Wrestlemania XXVIII this Sunday!

Its Wrestlemania week and we are only days away from the biggest event of the year for wrestling fans across the world.

This could possibly be the biggest Wrestlemania since Wrestlemania X8 when The Rock went against Hulk Hogan, or Wrestlemania XIX with Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle.

This year has two huge matches headlining it and a great set of matches to support them.

We are in for an epic 4 hour spectacular, so let’s have a look at the matches on the card for this Sunday.

Kane vs. Randy Orton

After the flop story between Kane and John Cena, Kane set his sights on a new target, The Viper Randy Orton. The reason behind this is due to one of Kane’s final matches before he put his mask back on.

Back when Kane was slowly turning more “human” and after losing to Orton in a street fight last summer, Kane shook Randy’s hand in a show of respect. Kane doesn’t like that side of him and his show of weakness and is now determined to prove a point and get vengeance by beating Orton at Wrestlemania.

Not the most exciting match on the card and the build-up hasn’t been spectacular but it’s a chance to see Randy Orton in action, Kane on the other hand will need to step up his game or his side of things could flop like his last storyline.

Intercontinental Championship

Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show

Over recent weeks Cody has put a spotlight on Big Shows past Wrestlemania losses. Using old footage Cody showed clips of Big Shows matches from past Mania’s. His loss to Floyd Mayweather (WMXXIV) and Akebono (WM21) was shown as well as a clip of him not even at the event for WMX8.

The story pushes Show down further and further and it was obvious where it was going. In a later week Show vs. Cody was booked for a championship match at Mania, knowing that he would be facing the giant didn’t stop Cody from mocking the big man as he continues to ridicule him.

I like Big Show but I think he could be better and personally I prefer Cody as a Champ than Show. That being said though it would be really mean and a big low blow to have Big Show lose again at Mania. After having his past losses spotlighted and now holding the record for shortest World Title reign in history it would just be over doing it having him lose again. He might as well give up now if that’s the direction they are sending him down.

Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs. Eve & Beth Phoenix

A waste of a Divas match. Pointless. Unneeded. This will be the toilet break.

Originally the divas match was meant to be Beth vs. Kharma but most probably due to her new baby Kharma will not be performing at Mania. This tag match is a backup.

The story behind it is Maria Menounos, host of NBC’s The Extras, had been interviewing Kelly. Eve and Beth became jealous from this and the two divas turned up on the Extras to confront Maria and Kelly and that’s when the challenge was made.

Maria is no stranger to the ring as she performed at Tribute to the Troops and scored the pin on current Divas Champ Beth. But she is no pro either, this could have been a lot better match if Natalya was involved in Maria’s place and had the right back story to support it.

Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny

Over the past weeks Teddy Long GM of SmackDown and John Laurinaitis Interim GM of Raw have been fighting over full control of both Raw and SmackDown. The board of Directors have decided that there will be just one GM for both shows.

To decide this Teddy and Johnny spent the last few weeks putting together a 6 man team each for a 12 man tag match at Mania that will decide total control.

Team Captains are David Otunga for Johnny and current US Champ Santino Marella for Teddy.

Johnny quickly acquired Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler which obviously came with Vicki Guerrero. In response Teddy took R-Truth and Kofi Kingston.

Johnny then took on the big man Mark Henry and in response Teddy took The Great Khali.

Christian also joined Team Johnny but due to an attack from CM Punk he was injured on last night’s Raw.  He was quickly replaced by Drew McIntyre.

Zack Ryder was recruited to team Teddy as well as mascot Hornswoggle.

Lastly there was the Miz who was trying to prove why he should be involved in this match but kept coming up with losses that was not helping his case, but last night he was added to Team Johnny once he saved him from a pending Cobra strike.

Teddy just needed one more member by this point, and after a match between Mark Henry and Khali last night, Teddy ended up in the firing line of a Worlds Strongest Slam. Booker T jumped from the announcers table and laid out Mark with a scissor kick to the back of the head. Teddy then added Booker as the last man on the team.

So to Sum up-

Team Johnny – (C) David Otunga, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry, Drew McIntyre and The Miz

Team Teddy – (C) Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Zack Ryder and Booker T

This match might be a bit silly in places but is going to line up a big change in storylines, we could see the longest GM to ever be on WWE Teddy Long disappear, or we could lose Johnny back to the WWE offices where he belongs leaving us with one man as the onscreen GM of both shows.

My money is on Johnny winning but I will be supporting Team Teddy.

World Heavyweight Championship

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

This was a match we was meant to have last year at Wrestlemania XXVII but it was bumped to a dark match and then removed all together.

This year though we are getting it and there is a bigger prize in the middle.

D Bryan won the World Title off Big Show late last year by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and handing Show the record of Shortest World Title Reign.

From that point onwards Bryan went on a slow decline into a Heel character that he has bought forward very well.

Early this year Sheamus won the Royal Rumble allowing him a title match at Mania. At the time he had a choice between Bryan and CM Punk but wouldn’t revile his choice till Elimination Chamber but it was obvious who he would go for. At the Chamber event Sheamus came to the ring at the end of the Smackdown match and laid out its winner D Bryan signalling what title he will be going for at Mania.

The rivalry has continued to heat up and we should be in for a good match, but that being said there is a wild card in play.

Bryan has got an on screen girlfriend, AJ, who he is using to his advantage as well as pushing his Heel character more by playing an overly pushy and bossy boyfriend belittling his girlfriend AJ. AJ continues to play the innocent one, even with the way he treats her saying she still “loves” him.

Yes this is very soap opera like story, but it could put an interesting aspect to the Title match this Sunday.

WWE Championship

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

This match has been building ever since Jericho returned to WWE in what could only be one of the biggest disappointments in WWE history. The end of the world as we know it never came, there was no big revile or change and his cryptic messages lead to nothing but his return.

In the end Jericho won a number one contender Battle Royal after Elimination Chamber lining up the match we knew was coming.

A feud was already high before this point but as soon as the match was booked it was spot lighted.

To add extra heat to the match Jericho recently started talking about Punks parents and sister’s apparent problems, such as the fact that his dad was a drunk.

These verbal attacks lead to Punk breaking PG and using the word shit 3 times. Even though he swore it was muted for us at home. Last night on Raw after another verbal attack from Jericho, Punk locked Christian in the Cobra Clutch in rage and this is what sparked the apparent injury mentioned earlier.

This should put some serious heat on the match and it has done what Jericho is best at doing and that is being hated.

We should have a strong Punk crowd at Mania but there will still be Jericho support out there to.

Hell in a Cell End of an Era

Undertaker vs. Triple H guest Ref. Shawn Michaels

Since Mania last year we have been wondering when Undertaker would be coming back and who he would face and most likely be his last Wrestlemania opponent. They decided to go with Triple H in what is looking to be the most exciting match of the Undertaker streak.

This year the match has been stuck in a Hell in a Cell, a place which Taker and Trips are no strangers two. It’s their home away from home as they have been in the most Hell in Cell matches out of all superstars. In fact up until the first Hell in a Cell PPV there hadn’t been a Cell match that didn’t involve one of these men in one way or another.

Not only is it in a Cell, but the referee will be the legend Shawn Michaels, best friend to Trips and a loser to Undertakers streak two years running. He holds the fate of the streak and an era in his hands.

Over the past month we have had a lot of confrontation that is really heating up the match and emphasising the end of an era headline.

But a big question is what era is ending? Is it the end of an era because these 3 men are the last of the old days, they were here before the PG era, the Invasion era, and the Attitude era.

Or is it the end of PG or something along them lines? As you may have noticed WWE have been pushing boundaries, harsher language as mentioned earlier and matches that are rougher as well as more close edged stories, it does look like they are spacing themselves from the PG rating.

Speculation predicts that this match will be like the old days and that there will be blood. Another clue of that is in the promo videos for the match. Usually if they show old footage with blood they would black and white the shot, or cut it out of the shot altogether, but this time it is shown quite clearly.

The whole thing is exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing these two legends but heads for what should be the final time.

Also on top of all this Undertaker still has not reviled his new hairdo, or should I say lack of hair, nor has he reviled a new look.

What waits at the end of the line for these men?

John Cena vs. The Rock

The biggest match ever in WWE, the biggest name of the past vs. the biggest name of today, The Rock vs. John Cena.

This is a match that has been a year in the making and it is finally just days away. The real build for it has been within the past month but hasn’t sat right some people.

To avoid the two fighting each other it’s been week after week of promos, some have been bad, some good. But it has got quite samey and boring and we wanted something different to happen, regardless though it hasn’t taken away from the match at all, the two names alone is the selling point.

One promo that sticks in peoples mind though was old school Cena. One week Cena came out to classic world life music and dressed in his classic gear and performed a John Cena rap.

Later in the show The Rock performed a “Rock” Concert, reminiscent of the days around Wrestlemania XIX when he used to play the guitar a lot.

His promo didn’t quite wow us like Cenas but was still good to see some old school Rock all the same.

Both these promos made us think about how it isn’t a PG era promo and its old school, is this further clue to the end of PG?

The next thing on peoples mind is the result of the match; people are thinking Cena will win and it will lead to a rematch on Raw or at the next PPV.

I personally want it to go the other way, I would prefer to see The Rock win, just because I’m old school and I’m obviously going to support the old school character, even if it is for just one night.

Either way this should the most epic match in history, and hopefully it won’t be the last.

So that’s it, big names, big card a BIG Wrestlemania, and I couldn’t be more excited! This is going to be a brilliant weekend, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Daniel Bryan is the World Heavyweight Champion!

That’s right last night at the conclusion of Big Show vs. Mark Henry, Bryan cashed in his Money in the Bank and stole the world title away, not from Mark but from Big Show.

Show had finally won the world title for the first time in about 9 years to be knocked out by Mark and then have his gold snatched away by Daniel Bryan.

The event itself was good but it did seem to miss some chaos that we are used to on this sort of PPV.

The event kicked off with Zack Ryder taking on US Champion Dolph Ziggler in what was a great opening contest.

The Long Island Ice Z finally got his shot and finally walked away with the US Title his first singles championship in WWE. Zack’s future is looking bright but let’s hope he doesn’t burn out like John Cena did.

After that match we cut back stage to Booker talking to Alicia Fox and getting attacked by Cody.

Cody obviously trying to avoid the match later in the night or just making sure Booker is not at 100%.

Next was a Tag Team match for the WWE Tag Titles finally seeing AirBoom back in action after Evan’s suspension.

On screen it looks like it would be any normal match but a lot may have been hanging in the balance other than the titles.

As Evan had been recently suspended for failing the drug test WWE may not have wanted to keep him with a title and push him down the cards, this could of lead to the removal of AirBoom and also Kofi suffering as well. If AirBoom were to lose at TLC all of that could have happened. Luckily AirBoom did win and retain the Tag Titles.

With their new T-Shirts and other merchandise the future of AirBoom may be bright.

Their opponents, Primo and Epico also looked to have a future in the Tag division performing well and showing classic style and personality. Rosa Mendez is also a welcome addition to the team. Looks like Hunico or Sin Cara Negro has been dropped from this story and pushed down the cards to Superstars as his main rival is out on injury.

Next was a pretty good Tables match between Wade Barrett and The Viper Randy Orton.

It was a good back and forth contest but it was Randy who took the win with a surprise RKO as Wade jumped from the turnbuckle to slam Randy through a table below him. Randy’s Snake like reflexes came into play as he sprang from the table catching Barrett and coming down in an RKO causing Barrett’s legs to go through table.

Not the most brilliant of endings but acceptable.

Beth Phoenix emerged next to take on former Divas Champ Kelly Kelly.

A much better Divas contest again seeing another longer than usual match up and both Kelly and Beth shone through out.

The ending was a bit messy but Beth came out the victor.

Booker T made his way to the ring next to once again in be jumped by Cody and be taken to the back by trainers. The match looked like it would never happen.

With that match once again on hold we move into the Sledgehammer Ladder match between Triple H and Kevin Nash which was a match that really did show its age.

Kevin Nash being in his early 50s and Triple H being early 40s neither are in their prime, this showed more on Kevin than it did Triple H. If this match was being fought just a few years prior the limits could have been pushed further and I would have found it more entertaining, but it just lacked that buzz that the two men used to bring back in the day.

Triple H was the man to grab the Sledge and use it on Kevin, after a pedigree and another hit from the hammer Triple H took the win.

Earlier in the night Jack and Sheamus had a promo resulting in the next match. It was nothing special but was entertaining, a good way of showcasing both men and put a push on Sheamus further up the ranks as he won with a boot to Jacks face.

Mark Henry went head to head with Big Show next which would be there third encounter.

Big Show “hurt” his hand early on being played out well by the big man and became Marks focus of the match.

The match was short and lacked buzz but Big Show took the win after still being able to knock Mark out with the injured hand.

During celebration Mark attacks Big Show and DDT’s show onto a pile of Chairs. The crowd saw it coming as chants for Daniel Bryan came from the front row. Daniel was down the ramp quick as lighting and cashed in on the downed Big Show, no work needed just a quick pin and Big Show’s title reign came to an end before it even began.

Big Show stayed in the ring stunned but didn’t seem angry, but Bryan may have just put himself between a rock and a hard place a Triple Threat for the World Title maybe in the foreseeable future maybe even a Fatal 4 Way depending on what happens with Kane.

Booker T was then shown backstage saying he will still go ahead with his match. So next up is the young vs. old, Cody vs. Booker T.

Even with the two attacks Bookers character didn’t show much of the effects and Bookers performance was just as good as it has ever been.

Booker did lose to the second generation star but let’s hope he stays in the ring and off the announcers table.

Lastly was an interesting Triple Threat TLC match for the WWE Title. In my opinion it did lack that buzz again but it was a good match that saw some rather unique moments.

During the match Ricardo tried to climb a ladder and retrieve the title on behalf of Alberto Del Rio. He was cut short by CM Punk, after being stopped though Ricardo handcuffed Punk to the Ladder, Alberto then attempted to climb the ladder and CM Punk was forced to break the ladder in a way of escape and stopped Del Rio in the process.

Now free from the ladder Punk spent the rest of the match wearing the handcuff which became a handy weapon.

Later Punk found himself handcuffed to the second turnbuckle of the ring by the Miz, while stuck in his predicament Alberto and Miz attempt to retrieve the Belt. CM Punk’s only way of freeing himself was to remove the turnbuckle altogether, which he did.

As Del Rio and Miz fought atop two ladders Punk undid the turnbuckle as quickly as possible, as soon as it was undone the second rope flopped to the mat and Punk made a dash up the ladders.

He stopped Miz and Alberto sending them back to the mat and then climbed down and gave Miz a GTS.

Quickly back up the ladder and the Title stays with CM Punk.

A great end to this PPV.

Overall I give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars, although it was a solid PPV it still lacked a buzz and chaos that we are used to for this style of PPV.

2012

Now 2012 is just round the corner and the date looms for the return of a Superstar, or someone else.

I have been doing some looking around seeing what people’s theories and predictions are and 3 in particular stand out.

The most obvious one is Chris Jericho, relating to the wording and his original entrance to the WWE as Y2J as 2000 was meant to be the end and everyone was on about Y2K. The (Y)ear 2012 (2)nd of (J)anuary in the video is claimed to be the end of the world as we know it, and he will come back and claim what is his. Other videos mention best in the world which is what he claimed to be. So maybe he will come to claim that name from CM Punk who is the current best in the world as well as the WWE title?

Theory number 2 is Batista. One of the passages read in the one of the clips is from what is called the Leviathan which was one of Batista’s early ring names.

The last theory, and most unlikely is Shane McMahon and the end of the PG era. The little girl that is in the latest video is meant to tell us when this person will arrive, who could that little girl be representing? Signs could point to Stephanie and there for the person being bought back maybe Shane. Claiming what is his could be in regards to him being the true heir to WWE and taking it back from Triple H and/or John Laurinaitis. Bringing the end to the world as we know it may refer to the end to the PG Era.

All of the above is theory and are rumours from across the web and nothing is of course confirmed.

That being said in my opinion I think it will be Chris Jericho as he is the most obvious even though he has said that he is in Hawaii on the date.

Masked Kane Returns!

 

You read that title right, Masked Kane is back! Last night on the special 3 hour addition of Raw for the Slammy’s came to a close with Kane’s return, or should I say resurrection. Kane returned during the final match of the night of Mark Henry vs. John Cena. During the match Fire boomed on the stage and the lights went out, Kane’s video played and his music blared as Kane appeared at the top of the ramp wearing new wrestling gear and strange black mask. He came to the ring and Mark was quick to leave. Cena still groggy receives a Choke Slam. Kane then blasts his Fire from the ring posts, the lights turn red and the music plays again as Kane lifts the black mask to reveal another mask underneath similar to his last before he was unmasked way back when. Not only was Kane re-masked but he has also grown his hair out to old style and length.

The night also saw the reappearance of Road Dogg, Lita, Mick Foley and Tony Atlas to present different awards throughout the night.

The night started with Booker T and the now speaking Hornswoggle presenting the award for the “Tell Me I Did NOT Just See That” Moment of the year.

The winner was Good Ol’ J.R for his dancing skills against Michael Cole. This lead into a shockingly bad “Rap Battle” Between J.R and Cole, even worst so because J.R forgot his rap which he tweeted later.

Next Mick Foley and “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase Sr. presented the award for Holy S#@! Moment of the year.

The winner was Mark Henry and Big Show for the ring collapse at Vengeance. Big Show accepted the award before he went to head to head with Wade Barrett.

The match ended on a DQ as Wade brings a chair to the ring to have it punched back into his face.

Pipe Bomb of the year was next presented by former DX member Road Dogg, not someone I expected to see on WWE TV again yet there he was but I don’t think we will see much of him again.

The winner of the award was the creator of the phrase “Pipe Bomb” CM Punk.

He accepted the award accompanied by a manikin dressed like John Laurinaitis back in his wrestling days. CM Punk proceeded to embarrass the Interim GM by showing a very cheesy tribute video featuring clips from John’s wrestling days as well as time as head of talent relations.

Next up was the great looking Lita, a Diva from the past that was actually able to perform. If you don’t know who Lita is or what she can do look her up. This woman has fought in Steel Cages, gone through tables, flipped from the top rope on numerous occasions as well as almost breaking her neck jumping out of the ring and hitting the barricade. Lita is what current Divas should aim to be like.

Lita presented the award for Most Divalicous Moment of the year. Kelly Kelly won for a roll up pin to win her first Title but in my opinion it is an honor that should have gone to one of the Divas of Doom. Natalya was in the nominations for performing a Sharp Shooter on Eve and Alicia Fox at the same time and Beth was nominated for her top rope Glam Slam from Survivor Series.

The Divas champ and former Diva of the year Beth accompanied by Natalya came out to mock Kelly but Beth got a Slap for her troubles.

Santino Marella and the Bella twins presented the award for OMG moment of the year. The winner being Undertaker for kicking out of the Tombstone at Wrestlemania which was delivered by Triple H.

The Undertaker obviously wasn’t there but Triple H was. After being absent for the last 7 weeks on injury the King of Kings made his return and cut a great promo for his match against Kevin Nash this Sunday.

Next was the award for Trending star of the year presented by Tony Atlas and David Otunga. This was more unique award. The winner of the award would be the superstar that Trends first on Twitter during their Fatal 4 Way match.

The participants were, Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan. The match was brilliant and was the best match of the night by far.

The winner of the match was Dolph Ziggler but winner of the Slammy was Zack Ryder.

Zack’s celebration was short lived though as Dolph attacked Zack taking the Slammy for himself.

The injured Christian was next to present the award for Game Changer of the Year. The winner was The Rock for accepting John Cena’s challenge for Wrestlemania next year. The Rock was obviously not present so John Cena accepted the award on his behalf and took the chance to put more heat on their match to happen next year.

The Miz and Alberto Del Rio tagged up to take on their TLC opponent and WWE Champion CM Punk who was teamed with the Viper Randy Orton.

Miz and Alberto picked up the win after Wade Barrett pulled Randy off the apron.

After the match Randy went after Barrett leaving Punk in the hands of Alberto and Miz. Punk soon found himself with his arm locked in a ladder as Alberto applies an Arm Bar.

Goldust and Vicki Guerrero presented the award for WWE A-Lister of the Year. The winner was Snookie from Jersey Shore for her appearance and match at Wrestlemania.

Snookie accepted the award via a Satellite message.

Sheamus was meant to have a match next against Jinder Mahal, but Jinder was running his mouth as he came to the ring and as he stepped through the ropes Sheamus booted him in the face and  left.

Rey Mysterio presented the biggest award of the night, Superstar of the Year. The reason it’s the biggest isn’t because it’s Superstar of the Year but because us the fans actually got to vote for this one.

CM Punk won as he is the Best in the World, better than all other superstars of this generation.

After Punk’s recent beating he was unable to accept the award so John Laurinaitis came and accepted on Punk’s behalf.

TLC

Well this weekend will see WWE’s last PPV of the Year TLC. Here is a quick list of the matches.

Intercontinental Championship

Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T

That’s right Booker T is making his way from the announcers table and to the Ring. Booker has annoyed us all for months with his drivel as a commentator but it will be great to see him back where he should be, in the ring.

Let’s hope he keeps wrestling and stops commentating altogether.

US Championship

Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

After a lot of fighting Zack Ryder finally gets his shot at the US Title, but to get it John Cena had to give up his place in the WWE Championship match.

John Cena doesn’t have a match at all at this PPV, something that doesn’t happen very often while he is an active superstar. Expect a promo from him and some backstage appearances throughout Sundays show.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett

This feud has been getting hotter over the past few weeks and I think we are in for a great match. Randy is meant to pick the stipulation for the match but still has not announced anything. Signs point to a Table match. If Wade wins expect him to set his sights on the World Title.

Triple H vs. Kevin Nash

Sledgehammer Ladder Match

This is a more unique match, instead of a championship or briefcase hanging above the ring a Sledgehammer will be in its place.

You don’t win though by retrieving the Hammer like you would in your standard Ladder match; the person who retrieves it is legally allowed to use it. The winner will come when one man pins or submits the other.

It’s an interesting concept but I feel it may ruin the aspect of a Ladder match. The enjoyment of a Ladder match comes from the fight and struggle to retrieve the item above the ring, as retrieving the Sledge doesn’t win the match I feel we may lose some of that suspense.

Either way it will be great to see these two classic stars step back into the ring.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Chairs Match

I am hoping that the chairs will make this match better than there last encounter but I don’t have high hopes for this match. That being said with the return of Kane we may see him get involved and possibly cost Mark the World Title.

WWE Championship

CM Punk vs. The Miz vs. Alberto Del Rio

Triple Threat TLC

What should be a great match is the first ever Triple Threat TLC, even though we are in a PG era this should still shine.

Like I said before John Cena was meant to be in this match but he gave up his place to give Zack another chance to get a match for the US Title. It is good to actually have him out of the spot light for once and shine the light on other members of the WWE, it won’t be long though and he will be back in top position.

For my American readers that is a British date, for you it is 1/2/2012. The reason I bring this date up is because it marks the return of another superstar. The teasers that have been on YouTube as well as during shows suggest Undertaker but to be sure we will have to wait till the 2^nd of Jan 2012.

The Rock’s Still Got it!

Last night the world saw what we thought would never happen, John Cena the most controversial Superstar in Sports Entertainment tagged with, The Rock, the most Electrifying man in all Sports Entertainment.

After 7 years FINALLY! The Rock has come back! Back in his Brahma ball tights, padded up and boots tied the Rock was ready to step back into the squared circle and perform again for the millions, AND MILLIONS of fans world wide. And guess what? He still got it!

Rocky didn’t miss a step throughout, a perfect performance from the future Hall of Famer.

Unfortunately though, this was all the event was about and was what everyone wanted to see, this brought a dead crowd for most other matches bar one other.

The event started with a pretty decent opening contest between Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison for the US Championship in what may have been Morrison’s last match in the WWE.

Morrison’s contract apparently ends in just 2 weeks and he still hasn’t resigned with WWE, he has also been taken out of all up and coming tour dates.

We may be seeing John take a walk to Dixie Carter’s TNA, epically since he didn’t come away with US Title.

The crowd made it known though that they wanted Zack Ryder.

This lead into an interesting and reasonable contest between Divas Beth Phoenix and Eve, the ring was surrounded by most of the other Divas as this match was a Lumberjill match but other than a couple moments they weren’t really needed.

The two women performed very well and the finish was a great one for a Divas match. We saw Beth glam slam Eve from the turnbuckle in a more high risk move than usual for a Divas contest.

The Divas continue their slow improvement and there storylines are becoming more interesting to watch, not to mention that Sex Appeal is also getting higher. More reviling clothing is coming back and the use of Sexier taunts and kinkier moves coming into play more often e.g. Eve shaking her booty before her standing moonsault and Kelly’s personal version of the Stick Face, it’s not overly needed but I’m not going to complain.

We then had a classic Rock promo from backstage, promoting the main match of the night which the crowd were buzzing for.

Next we lead into the classic Survivor Series match up, 5 on 5 elimination tag, Team Barrett vs. Team Orton.

The match started pretty strong but only for the first elimination which was Dolph Ziggler, we then lead into a typical team work moment and Kofi and Sin Cara went and jumped over the top rope onto Jack Swagger and Hunico. Unfortunately Sin Cara did not make it over the rope properly and injured himself in the process.

He ruptured his Patella Tendon and will be now out for 6 to 9 months, where this will leave the Hunico story is now a bit of a mystery.

As soon as that happened the match fell apart as all choreography that was planned was basically thrown out the window as Sin Cara had  to leave the match, and all the superstars had to improvise to get to a point that they could continue on with the original plan, which wasn’t until a lot later.

The momentum dropped drastically and the pace slowed killing the crowd in the process.

Respect to all the superstars though for keeping the match going the best they could but it really did bring down the show.

The choreography seemed to return when the match was down to Kofi, Orton and Sheamus vs. Barrett, Swagger, Rhodes and Hunico.

Even so the match still didn’t liven the crowd back up.

Kofi was soon eliminated followed by Sheamus by DQ for not breaking a 5 count on the ropes. Before leaving he booted Swagger for him to be eliminated leaving Randy in a 3 on 1 situation.

Hunico was out next after jumping off the top ropes and being caught in an RKO, but Barrett and Rhodes took advantage and picked up the win.

The ring was then “reinforced” for Big Show and Mark Henry’s rematch for the World Title. Nowhere near as impressive as before, the match was dull and bought “boring” chants from the crowd.

It ended in DQ as Mark Henry struck Show with a low blow.

It didn’t end there as Mark attempted to break Show’s leg in a steel chair as he did at Money in the Bank. He did not succeed this time as Show was able to move out the way in time. After getting the upper hand Mark found his leg trapped in the steel chair and Big Show stomps on it.

What could be next in this storyline as it I feel it has run its course? Not to mention with Mark having his leg smashed could we see him unable to defend the title?

After a humorous promo from R-Truth and The Miz we lead into the second biggest match of the night, CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio.

The crowd was buzzing for this one and CM Punk got the same reaction from the crowd as he did back at Money in the Bank, and to make things even more interesting CM Punk had his own personal ring announcer, the legend that is, The Fink.

The match livened the crowd back up and CM Punk and Del Rio put on a great one on one contest showing that Punk is still the best in the world.

The match had some close calls at the end but it was the Anaconda Vice on Del Rio that gave Punk the win and the WWE Championship.

Big celebration for Punk as the crowd went wild and Punk jumped into the fans twice in celebration.

Next the time had come for the main event, The Rock, John Cena, never before, never again.

Rocky was last out and the crowd went nuts and the focus was completely on him almost throughout. Rocky could have been tagged with Vickie Guerrero and facing Santino and Hornswoggle and the match would have still got the same reaction.

The Rock started the match and absolutely dominated Miz and Truth as he threw the two around the ring in classic fashion proving that he still got what it takes to perform in a WWE ring.

When Cena was tagged in the crowd was not best pleased, all they wanted was Rocky.

Cena was in the ring for a while mainly getting dominated by Miz and Truth after his good start.

Cena got his usual reaction from the crowd, a mixture of “You can’t wrestle”, “Let’s go Cena, Cena Sucks” and “We want Rocky”.

When Rocky was tagged back in the crowd went wild again, Rocky continued to pull out his classic moves, DDT, signature punches, a Rock bottom and a Sharp Shooter.

It all came to an end with the spine buster and the most electrifying move in all Sports Entertainment, the Peoples Elbow.

After the Pin the Rock celebrated in the ring and Cena clapped half way up the rump.

Rocky signals for the music to be turned down and calls Cena back in the ring. The two take turns taunting to get the obvious reactions from the crowd, boo’s for Cena, cheers for Rock.

A stare down came and the two spoke to each other but it all came down to a Rock Bottom on Cena to end the show.

Overall the show was pretty bland, the only matches worth watching in the end was Cena, Rock and the WWE Championship match. Other than that nothing really great happened. The injury to Sin Cara was a big factor in this because if he hadn’t got hurt we may have had a more full and exciting Survivor Series match that would of kept the show going. Not to mention all the firkin Twitter updates that kept popping up were unnecessary and annoying as hell.

I rate the event 4 out of 5 stars.
