Raw Smashes Tables!

Well where do I start? A lot happened on Raw in a very good show, one of the best shows I’ve seen in weeks, so let’s just go from beginning to end.

It saw the return of Raw roulette, unfortunately it was pretty obvious that the wheel was rigged to bring up particular matches for each spin, and for some we didn’t see the wheels result, we was just told what it apparently said.
Even with this the show was still good, it gave the WWE a chance to step out of the box, and put on more exciting matches. I hope they take the hint from the crowd’s reactions and the fans at home, on what sort of shows they should be putting on.

The first spin of the wheel was to decide what match John Cena and Randy Orton would have in the main event later in the night.
The wheel stopped on Tables match, creating a contest that is out of Raw’s recent style.

We then moved to the ring to see our guest host of the night, Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver, Chad Ochocinco. He came to the ring to promote his team, the NFL, and his own reality TV show. He was interrupted by the Miz who compared himself to Ochocinco, he then moved to insulting him.
The wheel was then span to decide Miz’s match. The wheel spin landed on Submission match. The Raw GM then said that Chad can pick Miz’s opponent, we obviously knew that he would pick Daniel Bryan, which he did.

After an Ad break we jumped straight into the action as Bryan and Miz fought, interestingly as well Miz had his “Apprentice” Alex Riley at ring side. (Looks like the former NXT Rookie will still be making his way into the WWE mainstream.)
During the match after Miz was able to break free of Bryans LeBell Lock via a rope break, Miz acted as if he was in pain, he took a microphone and claimed that he may have a hernia and that he can no longer compete to make sure he is able to compete at NOC. As the ring announcer was about to announce that Miz has forfeited, Miz halted him. He said that he wasn’t forfeiting, he then asked for Riley to take his place.
Riley jumped in the ring and continued the match, he didn’t last long though as Bryan locked in the LeBell Lock once again causing Riley to tap. Miz took his chance to try and beat on Bryan but was soon locked in to the LeBell Lock also and was tapping lick crazy. Bryan kept hold of his lock smiling out into the crowd until the refs came down and forced him off. A great segment and a great bit of story telling.

Before an ad break Edge was shown spinning the wheel to decide his match but we never saw what it landed on as the ads commenced before it stopped.
When we returned Edge was in the ring and his opponent Evan Bourn came to the ring, it was then announced that there match will be a body slam contest.
The match was short but good; there was a moment where Evan struck Edge cleanly in the side of the head with well placed kick. Edge picked up the win, even with his win though he was still not done as he speared Evan.
The Raw GM was not pleased with that spear and decided to make Edge compete in a second body slam contest with the Worlds Strongest Man Mark Henry, (who if I am honest looks like he may have put on a few pounds). The match didn’t last long and Mark took the easy win.

R-Truth with Eve and Ted DiBiase with Maryse went head to head in a song and dance contest apparently chosen by the Roulette wheel. This was a chance for R-Truth to debut his new rock/rap track called “Krunk”.
Ted then did his own rendition of “My Way”. Truth and Eve were declared the winners but all broke into a fight.

The wheel then chose the next match between Sheamus and Morrison to be a falls count anywhere match.
Before the match we saw Morrison training backstage, he showed his skills in Parkour also known as Free Running making it obvious that he may use it in his match.
The match was great and Morrison did use some of his Parkour abilities. The match led all the way up to the titantron which Morrison ended up climbing and jumping off of. Morrison was fighting for a spot in the Six Pack match replacing Jericho. After that jump though Jericho appeared with a steel chair and used it on Morrison allowing Sheamus to pick up the win.

After the Ad break we returned to Jericho sitting in the ring, he said he wasn’t going to move until he got what he wants which is to be put back in the match at NOC. He also said that if he didn’t get what he wanted he would quit and also track down the GM. The GM finally mailed in to try and throw Jericho off sent by acting like Vince McMahon. Jericho didn’t fall for it. The GM then mailed in again and Cole was only able to read the first line which was saying that he will put Jericho back in the match before Jericho interrupted.
He then mailed again to say “never interrupt me again”, he then finished off. He said that Jericho is back in if he can beat the Hart Dynasty in a Handicap match, in the steel cage that is hanging above the ring, and that match was to happen next. Jericho of cores protested and complained mainly because he was wearing a suit and he also badgered Cole for the identity of the GM. I am guessing soon we will have the GM reviled.

Another Ad break and we return to Jericho in the cage getting beaten on by the Harts. They did there double team move and then started to scale the cage. Jericho was able to chase after Tyson stopping his escape while on the other side Smith left the cage. This of cores means that the match is only half won, as both Tyson and Smith have to escape, or one has to make Jericho submit or pin him to win, so this meant that the match had to continue.
Tyson and Jericho put on a great one on one contest; it may have been (in my eyes) the best match Tyson has had on WWE TV. Now the result of this match was obvious but the rout to that result was a great one. The ending move was Jericho Jumping from the Turnbuckle holding Tyson Kid and going into the Walls to force the tap. When this move happened I cringe as it was almost a Pile Driver.
So as I motioned last week Jericho has wormed his way back into the Six Pack which was also announced to now be an Elimination style match.

Earlier in the night Regal spun the wheel to decide his match against Goldust. The match was reviled to be a trading places match where the two superstars swap outfits. The match was short but was slightly humorous. Goldust won by using the brass knuckles like Regal has used in the past.

We now headed into the final contest, Randy Orton vs. John Cena in one of my personal favourite styled matches, the Table match.
The match was great and the two fought hard for a while before the Nexus finely emerged (minus Skip Sheffield who is still out on injury). Once to the ring the Nexus took control but was unable to get either Cena or Orton threw a table, in fact the first to land on a table was Heath Slater who flew from the ring onto a table on the outside and landed well making it look great, Tarver and Otunga had already been sorted with an AA and a RKO. Next up to go threw a table was Justin Gabriel, he climbed the top rope and was getting ready to 450 splash Cena threw a table who had just received Wade Barrett’s Wasteland, Gabriel was then pushed off by Orton sending him into another table that was sitting on the outside.
Orton was then able to wiggle out of Wades finisher and pushing from the apron was able to send him threw a table as well leaving Orton to stand tall. Orton then moved to continue the match but was soon attacked by Edge and Jericho. Orton was able to get the upper hand and redirected a Spear meant for him and sent into Jericho and into table that was perched in the corner.
Sheamus then came to the ring and booted Cena from the apron he then went outside but ended up receiving an AA to the mats. It was now back to just Orton and Cena, the two tussled until Cena had Orton on his shoulders and was going to send him threw a table but as Cena threw him over Orton was able to grab Cena turning it into an RKO instead and winning the match as it caused Cena to go threw the table.
This left Orton as the last man standing once again, the Viper is on a rampage and is there anyway to stop him?
After the match I described Orton as a tough warrior, the man at the front of the army ready to go, and when the dust is cleared its Orton who is left standing.

Well overall I thought this was a great show, not a bad match for the whole night, I can’t even say that the Regal, Goldust match was bad, it was just silly.
This show has got me pumped for NOC this Sunday, and I am looking forward to the Six Pack Elimination match.
Now that’s two good shows in a row, can they go three for three? Or will NXT be another fail? To find out give it a watch this week or just read my blog this Friday.

Till then this is Matty.D signing off.
