No-Blood Rule & SmackDown!.

SmackDown! This week saw the return of the Undertaker as he faced Rey Mysterio in a Fatal 4 Way qualifying match and it was a good match indeed.
Taker did win even with a blooded and bruised nose so he will be heading to F4W.
Allowing Taker to bleed was quite interesting after the fiasco at Over The Limit.

While on the subject of blood some information has come to my attention on WWE’s take on the PG rating and blood use.
Some people in the company blame the new no-blood rule on Linda McMahon running for office and they believe it should be just a phase. Now if you’re like me you’re thinking, “great so it shouldn’t last long.” Uhh well, you’re wrong. One of the reasons for the no-blood rule is to attract a higher class of sponsors. If WWE’s popularity drops then the rule will most probably be lifted but Linder winning or losing the election will not change anything. Dave Meltzer believes that the PG rule will likely be in effect until either the license deal with Mattel runs out, which is years from now, or another company, such as TNA, takes away from WWE’s popularity. So expect to be stuck with it for a long time unless TNA spikes higher.
Of cores if WWE hadn’t made the no-blood rule, or had not decided to aim for kid fans, TNA wouldn’t even be an issue, and wouldn’t be a threat in the slightest. So if TNA spikes and WWE drops WWE will only have them selves to blame. WWE will still be strong if it comes to that though so they should bounce back easily
Wrestlers such as Stone Cold and Chris Jericho want TNA to do well because good competition should improve there show.

Anyway back to SmackDown!
Along side Taker at F4W will be the Champion Jack Swagger, the still #1 contender the Big Show, and the now Masked CM Punk. That’s right; CM Punk reviled him self, wearing, an S.E.S Mexican wrestling mask, in his match against Kane, to qualify for F4W.
I am guessing one of the reasons for this mask is due to the 13 staples stuck in his, as well as to move the story along with Rey. Now at first thought you would think Punk looks like a buffoon but it grew on me quickly.
The match was a good one up till the end where the GTS kind of muffed up, due to Kane being such a heavy load.

We also saw the former Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre team with World Champion Jack Swagger, to face the new Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston and the #1 contender for the World Title, the Big Show.
Before the match Drew produced another letter from Vince McMahon sating that Matt Hardy is now suspended.
Once again this tag match was another great bout which saw Big Show and Kofi pick up the win.
These matches that WWE produce prove that WWE does not need to purposely use blood to intensify a normal match. But when blood becomes visible from an accident, let it bleed unless it’s serious, otherwise you put a huge dent in the matches as trainers and medics jump in, also camera angles are awful as you try to make the blood hidden. This is wrestling, there will be blood, and there will be injuries, so stop trying to hide it to keep the kiddies happy.
If you produce a match with weapons then yes purposely use blood but do not over do it. The blood intensifies the match, also use weapons properly if you are putting them in place.

We saw a very good back stage promo from LayCool, and in my opinion they are the best Divas in WWE at the moment, I just hope they bring in some good opposing Divas for the co champs.

We also saw a pretty stupid match up between the teams of Christian and Hornswoggle vs. Dolph Ziggler and Chavo Guerrero. After that match we had MVP vs. the S.E.S member Luke Gallows which saw the mystery man again.

Overall a good show.

Well that is all for now Matty.D Signing off.

Impressive NXT and other news

Sorry that there was no in week reports, due to my new nightshift I have been extremely tired, in fact as I write this my body is aching all over, but I love writing these so I am not going to stop.

Let’s start off with NXT and I must say that this week it was extremely good and I really enjoyed it.
On the show we saw two great matches and an absolutely brilliant promo from Bryan Danielson and Michael Cole.

We saw a tag match between the teams of Christian and Heath Slater against R-Truth and David Otunga, and then later we saw Justin Gabriel vs. Wade Barrett.
The tag match saw Otunga and R-Truth win after an impressive match, and Gabriel was victorious in a just as impressive bout.

In between all that we had the Bryan Danielson and Michael Cole confrontation. It started with Cole in the ring with security, and he calls Bryan out for an apology, and if Bryan did not comply with this Cole said he would sue him for what he did last week.
When Bryan came down he said he would apologise and there is no need for the security. Cole asked the security to wait outside the ring while they talked.
Bryan apologises and Cole takes the apology. They start shaking hands when Bryan continues to finish his apology; he says that he is sorry that Michael Cole is the worst announcer in WWE history. Now of cores I do not 100% agree with that because I hold a special hatred for Matt Stryker on the announcers table not Cole.
Cole attempted to escape Bryans handshake but was unable to, Bryan started saying that Cole was not even man enough to escape a handshake as the security slid back into the ring.
Bryan keeps insulting Coles manhood then moves on to complain about WWE management who apparently tried to hold him back by putting him with the Miz who he claims is the worst WWE pro by far, and continues to complain about Miz before complaining about Cole some more saying he never earned the job that he has. Cole finally starts to get his say. He starts off with “You want to know the truth?” before moving into saying how he ripped on Bryan because he didn’t deserve to be in WWE. Bryan claims he has more heart than anyone in the locker room, Cole starts saying even if he is the best Bryan is lacking something. He moves on to say that Bryan should look in the mirror one time, stop making excuses. Stop blaming the Miz, stop blaming Cole and stop blaming WWE management and that Bryan did not have what takes to be there. He continues to insult Bryan before saying that Bryan is a loser and losers do not have heart. At that point Cole slapped Bryan and ducked out of the ring as the security held the now infuriated Bryan. Bryan gets free of the security and catches Cole outside the ring he takes him down and is about to start a beat down but the security is able to drag him away. They get him to the ramp and Bryan walks away on his own. As he gets to the top of the ramp Miz gets up from his seat and starts answering to the insults Bryan threw at him earlier, once at the top of the ramp Bryan threw a well placed hit to Miz’s face taking him down to the ground as they start to brawl, once again the security is in there to split the two holding back both Miz and Bryan who are as angry as can be. Bryan is taken back stage and Miz is left absolutely livid at the top of the ramp.

I could only find one word that describes the segment after watching it and that word is “Brilliant”. Every moment of that segment was riveting, and realistic. If someone who didn’t know anything about wrestling was watching that segment they would have thought it was real because it was performed so well.
You could really feel the anger and the feeling behind each person taking part and it has left me looking forward to the continuation of this story. I guess it looks like Bryan will still be getting onto that main roster which should be great and it was a great way of entering him in and still being able to drag another person from the NXT show to the big leagues.

At the end of the show we saw the one man rock band Heath Slater eliminated.
Word has it that the winner of NXT will most likely tag with there pro and go for the unified tag team champions at the next PPV.
The other option is David Otunga winning and taking on R-Truth for the US title.

It’s been said that Otunga, Barrett and Bryan are the only three NXT rookies who are guaranteed a main roster spot, although Gabriel is likely to stick around also.

Right, off of NXT and on to other news.

Randy Orton has said that he doesn’t think his shoulder injury is serious and he should be fine to wrestle at F4W. There is apparently a back up plan in place if Orton can not make it to F4W. If he is unable to wrestle, Sheamus will storyline injure Orton then a replacement superstar will step in, it would then lead to a rivalry storyline between Orton and Sheamus in July.

Although Batista has gone he apparently should be back in time for Wrestlemania 27 next year.

Lastly we will have a quick look at the new Tag team on Raw known as Jimmy and Jules Uso, along side Sarona Snuka. The Uso twins are the sons of former WWE star Rikishi, and Sarona being the daughter of WWE hall of famer Jimmy Superfly Snuka.
Unfortunately critics and others are giving negative reports on this new team. One wrestler familiar with the team said that they was not ready for prime time.
“Very, very sloppy,” the wrestler told the Pro Wrestling Torch regarding the brothers Uso. “They need a lot of work.”
Meanwhile, the wrestler delivered an even harsher review on the daughter of “The Superfly.”
“She’s the shits,” said the wrestler. “Sloppy as shit.”

Personally I think only time will tell weather this new team will do well.

Apparently at F4W we will see a Fatal 4 Way match for the unified tag titles so I am guessing the Uso’s will be one of these teams.

Well that is all for that round up. Do not forget to watch SmackDown! Tonight at 10 on SkySports3 and SkySports3HD.
Report will be tomorrow.

Raw brings something new

Raw last night saw a start to some new storylines to get ready for WWE’s new PPV called Fatal 4 Way. We also saw the emerging of bran new faction, a new champion and a new GM.

The show stared with a very battered looking Batista who came to the ring to moan. He was interrupted by the ring announcer who introduced the new Raw GM, Bret the Hitman Heart.
The Hitman spoke about Fatal 4 Way and that to decide the competitors in the Fatal 4 Way for the WWE championship, there would be a set of qualifying matches that night.
Batista was of coarse out raged by this. Bret then said if Batista wants a shot again at the title he must compete for it. Batista then shouted and screamed like a baby about being hurt and not able to wrestle and threatens to quit. Bret says that Batista would go up against another injured superstar being that Randy Orton and if Batista doesn’t want to wrestle then he will for fit and Randy moves on to F4W, which of coarse was the result and Randy is placed in the match at F4W. After Bret went backstage Batista moaned like a baby again until he quit and then left with the help of the Refs again.

We then had the first of the qualifying matches with an obvious winner before it even gets going. Sheamus vs. Mark Henry. Simple match nothing to get crazy about and Sheamus takes the win.

A back stage promo from guest host Jon Lovitz and Maryse followed by a promo from Bret, Edge and Chris which reviles the last qualifying match. Instead of a one on one match between Edge and Chris it’s a triple threat between the two and John Cena. If Cena wins they get nothing if one of them wins they go through to F4W.

Next was a limp Divas tag match that didn’t wow anyone but was longer in length than we are used to. The match was Maryse and Alicia Fox vs. Eve and Gail Kim. Maryse and Alicia being victorious after a vicious looking kick from Alicia and the French kiss from Maryse.

We then head into a great contest for the vacated United States Championship between R-Truth and The Miz.
I really did enjoy this match R-Truth is becoming such a great superstar, although during the ad break he almost broke his neck jumping over the ropes out of the ring.
We saw some great moves from both superstars, one counter that really stood out for me was when R-Truth was in the tree of woe and was able to throw Miz off the turnbuckle. The match went on with great two counts really getting the fans on the edge of there seats.
R-Truth ends it with his spinning elbow, now known as The Lie Detector, and gets the pin becoming the US champion and it being the first singles title he has held with WWE.

John Cena talks back stage now, yadda yadda yadda.

When we return Jon Lovitz has his skit with the Bella twins, the Great Khali, Jillian Hall and some random guy out the crowd. This is soon interrupted by Ted Dibiase and Virgil followed by Santino. I didn’t think much of this, some of these skits are good but they are just becoming boring and demeaning to the superstars who should be wrestling not dancing in top hats or singing badly.

We then have a match between the Heart Dynasty and Regal and Kozlov. The match was mediocre mainly because Regal and Kozlov are just used as a beat up team to push bigger tag teams.
After the match The Heart Dynasty was attacked by a brand new faction, and not a faction of superstars we already know, but a complete new team. They consisted of two men with long braided hair and a woman who looked like Awesome Kong if she lost loads of weight.
Now I thought this was brilliant other than the fact that that one of the guys had a total fail when getting on the top Turnbuckle.
Fans have wanted WWE to start pushing tag teams and it maybe what they are doing. With this new tag team and the other two new tag teams on SmackDown! As well as the S.E.S, it looks like we are getting a bigger tag team division.
This new faction came in the ring and attacked all the members of the Heart Dynasty. Once they had them laid out on the mat all the members of this team climbed the turnbuckles (although one almost fell right off) and then did simultaneous body presses to the lifeless Heart family. This should be very interesting and it was a great way to introduce this new team and get them right where they need to be with huge impact, I also love the fact that we have a new wrestling Diva not just one that’s going to stand around and look pretty.
Backstage again we have a talk with the NXT rookies, and then we have a look at Daniel Bryan and Michael Cole’s little tiff at the last NXT. Cole says how he will be calling Bryan out on the next NXT and wants him to apologise for the incidence or he will sue him.

Backstage again Chris and Edge chat, then we head to the ring for the last F4W qualifier.
This match went well but if you know WWE you could tell who was going to win when the match was made.
There were some great moves during this match, there was one point when Cena had Edge in the STF and Chris was doing the Walls of Jericho on John all at once.
The match came to a close with a Code breaker to Cena followed by a Spear to Chris getting the pin for Edge. So at F4W we will see John Cena vs. Sheamus vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton.
As Edge was leaving Sheamus came out but stopped so far down the ramp, Randy then walks out and stands at the top of the ramp, making and awesome shot.

This was a great Raw and I thought it was much better than Over The Limit the night before. I am looking forward to seeing what SmackDown! Will have to offer and what next weeks Raw will have in store, but I really hope Fatal 4 Way is not a Fail like Over The Limit was.

Over The Limit falls short.

Over the Limit was last night but unfortunately it didn’t quite go over the limit.
The night was just injuries and blood that WWE didn’t want.

The night started with Kofi vs. Drew McIntyre, the match was a good start, saw some great moves and in my eyes an overall good match that I did enjoy. We had some high flying moves some good ground work and close two counts, but in the end Kofi does his flip manoeuvre which lands in a pin and gets the three to win.
Straight after this Drew grabs a microphone and demands that Teddy Long comes down and reverses the decision and to give him back the Intercontinental Title. Instead of Teddy he got Matt Hardy. Matt made his way to the ring beat on Drew and nailed the twist of fate before walking away.

We then had a little backstage promo of CM Punk and an obvious plug for AXE Hair.

We then had R-Truth vs. Ted Dibiase. This match wasn’t amazing but wasn’t bad either, I am enjoying this storyline and it’s a great push for these superstars. One of them or even both of them could be in a WWE or World Title match in the near future.
Even with the presents Virgil, Ted still couldn’t get the win as R-Truth hits him with the spinning elbow for the 1, 2, 3.

Teddy then gets his Office ransacked by Drew.

We then move into a match with some interesting moments. The match being Rey vs. Punk.
The reason this was interesting is during the match Punk hit his head on Rey’s knee brace and started to bleed badly from his head. Rey was thrown head first out of the ring and into the barber’s chair that was sitting out side of the ring.
Rey remained down out side the ring giving the Ref time to attend to Punk but the ref and the medic was unable to stop the bleeding, they was only able to clean it up so it didn’t look as bad as it really was.
This took awhile and began to bore the crowd, once Rey was standing, but still staggering, the crowd cheered but then started to chant, “Boring, Boring” so Punk took it upon himself to get on with things. He dove out of the ring and threw Rey around like a rag doll as if he was in a blind rage.
The match went on like normal after that other than the fact that blood was still clearly coming from his head, but that blood alone made the match just that little bit better than it would have been.
The match in the end ended with Rey getting a quick roll up to get the 1, 2, 3. Punk sat in the ring in shock at what just happened, before Rey could get to the hair cutting though the Mystery man attacked Rey, then Gallows and Serena come down. They produce some hand cuffs and start preparing to cuff Rey to the ropes when the big red machine Kane made him self know as he came to the ring to help Rey out. Kane clears the ring then Choke slams Punk. Punk is then cuffed up to the ropes, and proceeds to cut Punks hair.
At this point the blood was becoming more and more visible as it streamed down his face as Rey cut at the hair. At first we was seeing it well but then we had the angle form behind his head so we couldn’t see anything, also Punk used Rey’s leg to attempt to wipe away what he could. After so long Rey stopped and Serena chucked a towel over Punks head allowing him the chance to wipe the blood off. He was then helped back stage by the S.E.S. When Punk was backstage, out of story and off screen, Punk had 13 staples put in his head.

We then had a funny backstage moment with Big Show, Chris Jericho and Miz followed by a Prince of Persia ad.

We move into the Tag match now with the Heart Dynasty vs. Chris and Miz.
A pretty solid match I am really enjoying the Heart Dynasty I think they are an awesome team. The Hearts won this after nailing there tag team move called the Heart attack.

Up next was one of the highly anticipated matches of the night of Edge vs. Orton. It was a good match at first and I was really getting into it when there was an unfortunate injury. When Randy was pumping up for the RKO he caused his shoulder to be separated. It apparently separated when he did his viper neck snap getting pumped up, he then caused it to get worst by dropping to the mat to set up for the RKO and bashing the floor with his fists. He stopped mid way through his setup to the RKO and started to hold his arm he says something to Edge obviously signalling that he is hurt so Edge does not hurt him further. Edge moves to the ring side and Randy gives him a limp kick to knock him out of the ring to start a count out. The ref has already thrown up the X sign signalling the need of a medic and to let them know of the real injury to the people backstage. If you are reading this on my Facebook or Blogger you can see the image of the Ref throwing up the X sign and Randy holding his arm. Randy goes out the ring and goes to Edge and the Ref tells the time keeper that Randy is out. While Edge and Randy start a watered down fight outside the ring the Ref starts the 10 count. Just as the Ref gets to 9 Edge attempts to spear Randy but Randy dodges it so Edge goes head first into the barrier as they hit the 10 and ending the match.
Randy is helped back stage and you can tell he was angry about what happened. When back stage there was apparently worry and concern about him. He was checked out by the trainers, how long he will be out of action for is still unknown. Randy also apparently threw a fit once backstage.

After that we led into the World title match between Jack and Show. It went well at first up until Jack got himself disqualified by hitting show in the head with the Title belt. He then proceeded to hit show in the back with a chair. Big Show then did the same to jack bending the chair across his back, then choke slamming him on it and then doing his giant punch. This didn’t really amaze me and I dint think much of this match.

We then had a look back at what Batista done to Mark Henry over recent weeks on Raw before we led into the Divas match between Eve and Maryse.
This was an ok match but not as good as the divas matches we’ve seen from LayCool recently.
Eve won the match with some little face slam move to Maryse.

We then headed into the I Quit Match. The best way to describe this match is “Meh” but it did have a good moment when Cena got dumped threw an announcers table. Some how this caused his head to get a little cut and made him bleed but the medics was on him quick, they obviously didn’t want more blood ruining there show all though it would have made it better. The match moved into the crowd and round to the staging. We had Batista try and back a car from the shows staging into John but this was a total fail. John then got Batista on the car and Attitude Adjustment-ed him onto the car. When Batista didn’t quit Cena lifted him back up and was ready to do it again but this time onto the staging below. Before John got the chance to throw him down Batista panicked and started saying “I Quit” over and over. The bell rang and we though that would be it but Cena still threw him onto the staging on a specially made area where Batista could fall threw floor and on to a mat below.
As the show was ending Shames appeared and attacked John.

This event was just not that well done if you ask me and the issues with blood and Randy’s injury just caused the show to fall apart.
I’m sure punk would have been fine to keep going with blood down his face and it’s just a red liquid from the body what is the big deal WWE?

Best match of the night: Punk vs. Rey.

Rating out of 5: only 2.5

SmackDown! Improving.

SmackDown! This week showed great improvement. We saw storylines develop great promos and possibly more evolution for WWE.

We had CM Punk shave peoples hair again, Big Show mock Jack Swagger, some tag teams being pushed and divas improving there skills.

Let’s go through these one by one shall we.
Start off with CM Punk. We opened the show with Punk and S.E.S in the ring and 3 others sitting in chairs in the middle ready for a head shaving.

This was a good promo pushing straight edge further and to improve Gallows and Serena’s mic work. During the shaving of heads Rey comes out and shows a photoshoped picture of CM Punk bald.
Leading on to later in the night Punk and Gallows go up against Rey and partner MVP. The match was pretty damn good we saw some great team work from MVP and Rey, and a pretty intense match. It ended with the Mystery man getting involved but fails as Rey chucks him head first into the ring post before rolling CM Punk up for the win. The picture of Punk is shown on the screens and Punk cowers outside at the thought of loseing his hair.

Now let’s have a look at Big Show and Jack Swaggers night.
Through out the night we had Big Show doing what Swagger did 3 weeks ago, by having mini promos about his accomplishments as the night went on, but instead of all the rubbish that Jack told us, Big Show told us about the things he has done to Jack over recent weeks.
During the night Jack faced Kofi Kingston. This was another great match between the two showing great skill and how they are able to put on a good show. Unfortunately the ending didn’t go as smoothly as it should of.
At the ended came Big Show came out and was calling to Jack, this seemed a bit miss timed. Jack had to get Kofi out of the ring before he could acknowledge Big Show. Once he had removed Kofi he did pay attention to Big Show who was saying there is one more thing that Jack needed to know. If you were watching you could have seen what was going to happen from the miss timing of this segment. Big Show stops talking and Jack looks at him, to much of a delay between all the parts here. Kofi jumps on jack and pins him 1, 2, 3. He then leaves to join big show. This next part is better than the rest. Big Show moves on to say “Did You Know” and points at the screen that shows the WWE “Did You Know” words which you may have seen while watching Raw between breaks. “It then flashes up Kofi just beat you.”
The last match of the night was Big Show vs. Drew McIntyre. The two put on a good contest but was ended by Jack. He pounds on Big Show then goes to get a chair, when he goes to hit Show, Show just punches the chair aside. Jack then makes a runner, closing the show with a very angry looking giant standing in the ring.

Tag teams that were pushed tonight were the team of Curt Hawking and Vance Archer and the team of Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta known as the Dudebusters. We saw Curt and Vance pushed by facing a pair of unknowns to show there skill. There storyline is that they are on a probation and to get permanent contracts they need to make an impact.
At another part of the night one half of the Dudebusters fought JTG and lost, actually pushing JTG which has proven me all wrong about the Shad and JTG storyline, which I am glad about.
I like that they are pushing some new tag teams that are actual tag teams not two current superstars thrown together, this showing that the WWE may actually be listening to there fans when we tell them what we would like to see.

Lastly on my list is the Divas contest.
Tonight we saw the self proclaimed Co-Women’s Champions, LayCool go up against Kelly Kelly and Tiffany.
At first thought you would think we would see the typical Divas match that they usually do but instead we see a match with potential from these Divas and a brighter future from all them.
We saw Kelly doing a flying cross body from the turn buckle to the outside that had me impressed as well as some over great moments in the ring from all 4 women. Now this isn’t like WWE’s older generation of Divas used to be like or how the women of TNA are today, but it’s an improvement to what we have been having recently, so let’s hope they keep this development up.

Another less important moment and not so great one was the return of the peep show from Christian which may have kicked off a storyline between him and Dolph Ziggler.

This was a great show I really enjoyed it and I am actually pumped up for Over The Limit and really looking forward to sitting back and watching the event.

On another subject WWE announced on there website that Carlito has been released as he violated there wellness programme.

That’s all from me Matty.D signing off.

Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) “Toughens Up” Michael Cole!

NXT this week was very interesting and did match up to better standards than normal.
We are no longer seeing the silly challenges like before and they seem to be focusing on a more realistic styled show like we was originally told we was going to get.
We saw the superstars give there opinions on the show and remained most of the night up the top of the ramp watching the nights matches before giving there judgment at the end of the night, evidently eliminating Darren Young.
I believe these changes are the effect of the re writes that the WWE creative staff have apparently been doing.

We saw some good matches all from the rookies and short promos with former rookies, Tarver, Bryan and Sheffield.
Mid way into the show we saw Bryan and Tarver in the ring, Matt Stryker asked for some incite on why they thought they was eliminated from NXT by the WWE bored of directors.
First was Tarver who spilled his usual stuff about the issue before being interrupted by Stryker. Stryker then moved on to talk to Bryan who started off by saying that he is the best one there is and the he does deserve to be a WWE superstar and that all the superstars and fans no it. He said about the superstars sitting up the ramp that they all know it, even The Miz knows it. Miz did come out with an argument but Bryan just said he was better than him as well. He also commented on Stryker and how he was tired of being interrupted by him. He then said that there is only one person that doesn’t know how good he is and constantly ridicules him. And that person is Michael Cole.

He slide out of the ring to go face to face with Cole, he starts shouting abuse at him, saying things like he is a low life replacement for JR and that he is a parrot just repeating what ever Vince McMahon is saying in his ear. This lead into shoving before Cole went to grab Bryan’s legs and Bryan started to fight Cole attempting to kick and punch him, before this could escalate into a full blown fight though Matt Stryker had already got in the middle and refs came to split the two. Bryan continued to shout abuse at Cole as he was taken away. During the next match Michael walks away to apparently get the matter sorted to then return later on.
I thought this was a great segment and looked very realist all around and could have a lot of people convinced even me when I first saw it.

On JR’s Blog off of JRsBarBQ.com, JR had this to say on the recent NXT moment between the two men.
“Amazing discussion virtually every where one looks on the net about the Daniel Bryan/Michael Cole dust up on NXT Tuesday night. Honesty, I feel that it helped both individual’s persona’s and will likely encourage fans to tune in again to see the follow up on the matter. I’m not so sure that I wouldn’t have something occur Sunday in Detroit at the PPV to add a little fuel to the fire and if not there on Monday Night Raw in Toledo for sure. The end result is to first create awareness for the wrestler and then to further develop Cole’s on air persona.”

So guys if I was you I would start watching this a bit more closely because it could get quite interesting.

In other news as we are all aware that the WWE are going to be putting a permanent GM in charge of RAW next week.
Ideas for this person floating around the web are, Brett Heart, Vicki Guerrero, Chelsea Handler or even Joey Styles or the Fink.
But who would you like to see as GM or do you think it is going to be?

Also WWE is thinking about bringing back the programme Tough Enough. There is no guarantee on this I believe the idea is still in the works. Also on the TNA side Eric Bischoff has been talking about possibly starting a Tough Enough like show in the summer.

Lastly something I’m sure we will be happy to hear is that WWE may start trying to focus on its older audience again, not fully though as to still keep kids involved but hopefully enough to improve the show and bring the fans they have lost back and raise there rating back up to a good slandered. This is a great thing to hear let’s hope they follow through and we start seeing some quality material from the WWE.

That’s all for now guys check out the usule site for more info and check out SmackDown! Tonight on SkySports3 and SkySports3HD at 10:30.

This is Matty.D Signing off.

Oh, Canada Wants Impact!

Raw last night was “Live” from Toronto Ontario Canada and was commercial free….. Except in Canada? Now although it was commercial free we did have a lot of “messages from there sponsors.” But anyway, the show was pretty mediocre, nothing to get to crazy about.
The show did have a couple of highs though so let’s look back.

It pretty much started with Brett sating that it is his final night on Raw. He then went on to say that he will not be competing for Miz’s US Title. During this little speech Brett let the letters WWF slip instead of WWE, but the sensors muted it for us watching at home.
Before he could move on Chris Jericho came out to make Brett change his mind and agree to compete still later in the night which he did.

We then moved to more Canadians as Edge comes out for his match. Now Randy and Edge was taking part in pick your Poison matches, in other words they pick each others opponents.
Once Edge was to the ring we had Christian’s music, he makes it down to the ring for a highly anticipated match between two former tag team partners. Unfortunately it was not to be that amazing partly due to the crowd just not getting into it and the match was slightly dull I must admit. In the end Edge won off a spear to a cheer of the crowd, they were most probably glad it was over. Personally I thought the match was pretty solid and I did enjoy it but the crowd thought differently. After that we did have a great moment. On the Titan Tron Randy appeared and said he was wondering why Christian was down there as he was not the person Randy selected, then the lights went out and a gong sounded. That’s right The Undertaker was there and ready to go. Unfortunately when that match got started Edge just got himself counted out. Christian (who was still on the outside) then threw Edge back in to be choke slammed, and that’s really all we got of the Deadman.

We then had Mark Henry coming out to the ring to be ambushed by Batista and a 2x4. We see Batista beat on Mark then Batista requested his spotlight.

After that we have a trailer to promote the R-Truth vs. Ted DeBiase match at Over The Limit. We then Have Ted come down accompanied by his father’s old body guard Vigil. Ted goes against Yoshi Tatsu and wins.

We then have a monolog from Miz as he heads to the ring, great mic work again. Brett then comes down and the bell is rung for the match to begin. By the way this is a no DQ no count out match.
Miz jumps out of the ring gets a microphone and says that he is already wise to Brett getting help from the Heart Dynasty and he has hired help. The Russian and The Brit come down but are soon met by Tyson Kid and DH.Smith. While they fight Chris Jericho comes from the other side so Brett’s stuck in a 1 on 2 situation. Then the lovely Natalya jumps in for support and ends up slapping Miz but doesn’t do much else and Brett is taken down to the ground with a punch to the gut. Already I was not overly impressed. The rest of the Dynasty return to help out and yes Brett does win the US Title one last time. This was pretty cool but once again nothing overly amazing about it.

Next was a 6 divas match with interesting attachments. On SmackDown! LayCool won the Women’s title off of Beth in a 2 on 1 Handicap match. Layla was the one who got the pin but for some reason both Michele and Layla had title belts this night. Is this the start of a tag team championship for Divas or just some storyline?
Anyway they teamed up with Maryse to face Eve and the Bella Twins. I actually saw some improvement in this match and it lasted longer than usual WWE divas matches. It ended on Maryse with her lame DDT.

We then had Randy Orton vs. Jack Swagger, Edges chosen opponent for Randy. This match was dull due to the presents of Swagger but it did pick up when Randy did what he does best and pulled out all his Viper moves and the crowd loved it.
Edge ended up in the middle and this ended with Randy being speared after Jack got RKO’d.

Now if you hadn’t noticed apparently Buzz Aldrin (second man to walk on the moon) was the guest host. He came down, spoke to the crowd, and had Zack Ryder come down with Rosa Mendes to interrupt him and blab. When that was done, Buzz set up the match of Zack and Rosa vs. Evan Bourn and Gail Kim. This was an ok match saw some good moves but not much structure.

We then had the nights final match Shames vs. John Cena. Once again nothing amazing bored the crowd and nothing special. This ended with Batista getting involved and the show closed with John Cena in Batista’s new submission hold.
Now there was one memorable thing to notice in this match, which was a crowd sign that had obviously been snuck by the security. It said “Toronto Need a Impact.” Now to most people you would think ok so what the sign said Impact which is the TNA show. But that was not all. The letters T, N and A was highlighted clearly in red, the rest was in black and the letters lined up in a downwards diagonal to from a clear TNA. I am shocked that WWE let that sign threw the cracks but hope it’s a good slap in the face for Vince.

That’s pretty much all that’s important at the moment. I will not be doing any mid week up dates at the moment due to going through induction for my new job but I should be back on track next week or by the end of this week.

Drew is Back.

So this is not a run down of SmackDown! This is just a few of my thoughts from the show.

To start off lets talk about the way SmackDown! Got started with the Intercontinental Title match.
Now Kofi and Christian really did put on a good match here, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I though it was a great contest between the two and kept the fans interested and glued to the action. The crowd this week seemed to be a lot more into it and that really showed in this match, compared to last weeks crowd which was as if everyone had taken sleeping pills, this was a great improvement.
The match had its close calls and even a bit of blood from Christian, a bloody mouth and a small cut on his eyebrow. Now I know that is next to nothing compared to WWE’s past and the current TNA but its still a shock as recently the smallest amount of blood would cause the referee to attack the bleeding superstar with latex gloves and a towel.
The match did end with Kofi winning and Christian shaking his hand as a show of respect before leaving. After Teddy awarded Kofi with the belt Drew came down and handed a letter to Teddy, which stated that Vince is reversing last weeks decision and Drew is still a member of the SmackDown! Roster and is still recognized as the Intercontinental Champion. This caused Teddy to take the belt off of Kofi and give it back to Drew. This Left Kofi angry in the ring as Drew walked away.
Later Drew was told he would be facing Big Show next week.

Earlier in the week I read that Kofi or MVP may be making a Heel turn soon. So the recent event with Kofi may be the trigger to the turn for him to turn on some face superstars in anger.

Also in the show we saw Shad beat down an unknown superstar to further push him up the ranks. MVP and JTG tagged against the Dude guys, people, whoever they are, and won.
Jack Swagger had all his awards bought to the ring so he could gloat more, Big Show interrupted this and it ended up with all of Jacks Awards being smashed.
The last match was Rey vs. Punk. I thought this was a bit un needed as the match at Over The Limit was to be a decider as its technically set at one all.
The match was good though both Rey and Punk work great together in the ring, the match ended with Gallows, Serena and the masked man from the land under the ring getting involved resulting in DQ. This part was good for symbolism and to move the story along. Once Rey was beaten down, Gallows and the mystery man lifted Rey onto Punks shoulders and a GTS was planted on him. Then Punk held Rey’s lifeless body and put one of Rey’s hands on his chest and made him raise the other. The rest of the group did the same pose, a sign of a possible future.

A good show overall and I think that this should defiantly have higher ratings this week. The crowd seemed a lot more active but from what I can tell there was allot of Canned Heat used to control chants, cheers and boo’s to avoid a dull crowd.

Moving on to NXT from during the week we saw 3 of the NXT rookies eliminated. First off was Michael Tarver followed by Daniel Bryan, the reason for these two leaving is because they did not believe in them selves. Later in the night we had a small interview with Tarver and Daniel. The Tarver interview really didn’t matter, it was the Daniel Bryan one that did.
Matt Stryker asked if Daniel regretted leaving the independent circuit where he was a Big Fish in a small pound to then drown in the Sea that is WWE, Daniel came back by saying that Daniel Bryan never did wrestle on the independent circuit. He moved on to describe another person, and that if you search Daniel Bryan on YouTube you will only find NXT videos. He continues to put down his current character saying how he can’t beat rookies. Matt then asked what’s next for this guy pointing at Daniel, and Daniel said that he didn’t know what was next for Daniel Bryan, he may never come back but, Bryan Danielson you never what the future holds for him.
I am not sure if this is something the WWE wanted him saying as it is completely out of character, and Matt did try to divert him from saying his other name and the camera shook furiously as he went on. I believe that Daniel is being released from WWE and my now be heading back to R.O.H.

The third elimination was Skip Sheffield decided by the Pro’s poll at the end of the night. He seemed quite upset by it.
I must say I am not sure weather or not the rookies knew the poll results before hand and who would be eliminated as there seemed to be looks of actually emotion and concern from them all, and we all know what there acting is like, so telling real feeling and emoticon from acting should be easy. Also when asked who they thought should be eliminated it seemed like actual answers and not scripted and most of them said David Otunga. If it is scripted it would be to push David as big heel character, if not then he is really not liked in the locker room.
Overall a very interesting NXT and leaves me wondering where the show will go now that there top rookie has been eliminated. I am also wondering how NXT will work when all the rookies have been eliminated and there is only one left? Does it mean the show will just end? Will we have a fresh batch of rookies and start again? Or will we just have a new rookie added every so often?

That’s all that’s on my mind for now Matty.D signing off.

EVE. The New Women’s Wrestling Promotion!

Ok guys just an update of what’s going on in the WWE/wrestling world.

Start off by talking about the start of a new wrestling promotion called EVE Pro Wrestling. EVE standing for: Energy Victory Excellence. It’s a European Wrestling Promotion and is an all female roster.
Now I know what you’re thinking, it’s just another reason for us guys to look at women in next to nothing but that’s not the case.
This is a legitimate pro wrestling company focusing on women who can actually wrestle and not just stand around and look pretty.
There first show was over the weekend at Sudbury, Suffolk and apparently went very well.

For more news on this check out: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/2970232/Pro-Wrestling-Eve-review.html

And there official site: http://www.evewrestling.com/

On other things WWE’s recent SmackDown! Ratings in the US was at an all time low this past Friday.
All I’m hoping is that WWE takes the hint and starts changing things, but this may take a while as Vince and the WWE have a lot of there top superstars convinced that PG is the way to be, but it does look like they are getting the message as WWE’s creative team has made a lot of re writes recently with the NXT and SmackDown! Tapings so let’s hope that the changes help things along.

WWE is also planning on using twitter more, having more talent use it and promote it more on shows. The downside is they want to use it to promote WWE storylines and less personal use. I don’t agree with that as I follow wrestlers on there to see what the person has to say, not the character they are portraying.

Last thing is that Triple H should be returning some time soon as he is booked to wrestle in Kentucky on 12th of July for Raw, so we hope to see him make his way back to our screens over the coming month.

That’s all for today Matty.D signing off.

US Championship to Canada!

Last nights Raw saw Miz take on Tyson Kid, and if Tyson won, a member of the Heart family got a chance to go foe the United States Championship. Which member of the family though was to be decided by the Miz. He selected WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Heart. So in Toronto (not Montréal, I know I got it wrong in the previous blog) next week on a commercial free Raw Bret will be taking on the Miz to hopefully take the US title into the Canadian camp.
I don’t see this being a good match, as Bret’s Mania match was a big downer to the event. The outcome of this match though is up in the air because as I recall the next Raw is booked to be Bret’s final show before his contract expires. If Bret wins it may mean he has renewed his contract and will be sticking around for a while longer. Another possibility if he wins is he will bid us a farewell and vacate the title, or find a loophole and pass it on to one of the members of the Heart Dynasty. I wouldn’t expect Bret to lose this match due to it being Bret’s final show and it being based in Canada but you never know what WWE will do next.
My opinion on this is id rather Miz keeps his title, as Bret is no longer in 100% wrestling condition it would be a bit pointless of him holding the title, if Bret does win I hope it to be something we can all get behind and a possible good storyline to come off of it.

On other news The Sun has done article on Triple H agreeing with the change to a PG rating, I do understand where he is coming from but I do feel it is partly the influence of the McMahon side of his family. To read more on this I will post a link at the bottom of the page.

In some older news which you may already have heard, is the Great Khali is heading back to India and plans on opening a Wrestling school. Also on another subject the numbers from Wrestlemania PPV apparently didn’t measure up to last year as sales for the show dropped 12%, although Vince has given his thoughts on why this is I do not 100% agree with them, but we will all have different opinions on it, my personal thoughts is its due to a PG rating, the fans that like a show with more edge may not have wanted to pay out for the show, the kids who they are aiming there PG product at may not have been able to convince there parents to pay out the hefty price for just 4 hours of wrestling on TV. The last reason that Vince did pick up on is the dedicated fans like myself threw Wrestlemania parties.

That’s all for this Blog for more news, and deeper looks into some of the subjects above head over to: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/

Also check out http://www.wrestling-edge.com/

And don’t forget to keep an eye on Tommy for his thoughts on TNA.

If you missed last nights Raw, not to worry check out my previous Blog called “Excuse Me!” for a run down of the event. I may stop with the run downs of Raw and SmackDown! Though due to it taking so long to write and not sure if anyone is to bothered about reading back the show. If you feel differently let me know otherwise I will just focus on Blogs more like this one.

Excuse Me!!

Sorry that there has been no in depth look at some of the pieces from SmackDown! But I have been busy recently.
I will make it up to you on the next blog with an update of the latest things going on in the wrestling world and some of my thoughts about recent events after this run down of Raw.
I may make this the last time I do a full run down as they take so long to write, but I will keep up with the news and thoughts from other blogs.

Anyway lets move on to Raw.
It starts off with a look back at Edge and Randy’s stories to our current point, really showing how they are pushing these two men and there storylines.
I do love these flashbacks WWE do the best work on them.

Once we come off the look back we have Randy making his way to the ring. Randy starts off by telling us why he didn’t join back up with Edge last week, but for some reason is interrupted by Meat Loaf.
Once Meat Loaf is to the ring he starts giving Randy praise and then plugging his new album. He says that one of the tracks should be Randy’s new theme song. Meat Loaf asks if he would like to hear it. Randy agrees but doesn’t look impressed what so ever. As Meat Loaf starts to sing Randy becomes annoyed and goes to walk away, Meat Loaf keeps calling at him and talking about his songs in attempt to impress the Viper and to stop him from leaving.
After so long Randy finally shuts him up with an RKO which some of the crowd was calling for.
After that Edge comes out and he asks if Randy has a problem with Celebrities since he likes to RKO them all. But Edge agrees with him in the dislike of Celbs.
Edge then says that he has “tweeted” the WWE and from now on the guests have no power over matches. He moves on to announce that he felt that Raw should have a permanent general manger and introduces his ex wife, Vickie Guerrero as new GM of Raw.
She comes out to her usual “excuse me” then leads on to reprimand Randy.
Randy gets called a bully and that he will find out what it feels like, so later in the night Randy would meet Edge and a partner of his choice in a handicap match.
This was an interesting opening segment and does it mean the end of guest hosts?

After the ads we have Chris Jericho coming to the ring for a match and if he wins it, he and Miz get a Unified Tag Title match at Over The Limit.
David Heart Smith comes to the ring accompanied by the lovely Natalya who was carrying one of D. H .Smith’s belts.
This was a short match with nothing to special, Chris winning after a Code Breaker, this means that Jericho and Miz will be going for the Tag Titles at Over The Limit.

We then cut backstage to see Edge talking to Batista, we don’t hear any talking but Cole and King are wondering whether or not Edge is trying to recruit him.
We then hear about Cena and Batista, and the stipulation being reviled later in the night. A clip of our guest host, Flavor Flave, before cutting to the ads.

After the Ads we have R-Truth coming out with Flavor singing “What’s Up!?!”
Already I’m thinking what a mug this guy is. There is some typical guest host chat and plugging of endorsements before we move on to R-Truth vs. William Regal who was wondering back and forth by the ring while R-Truth and Flavor spoke to the crowd.

Just as the match started it was interrupted by the recently reunited team of Carlito and Primo, as a heel team. When they were done they left the ring and headed up the ramp. We find out why they attacked R-Truth, as they got to the top of the ramp they are joined by Ted DiBiase, they shake hands with him before leaving and Ted looks on pleased with what’s happened.

After the Ads and we have a scene of Maryse learning some Jujitsu to match up with Eve’s skills but doesn’t do well and slaps the trainer, this all seems boring and un needed and badly performed.

We then cut to Randy back stage being questioned by Josh Matthews. He asks the Viper if he is concerned about whom Edge picks as his partner. He says he is not concerned, but would like Vickie at ring side as tonight will be a night she will never forget.

After another ads break we have Zack Ryder talking to us and Divas sitting by the ring again.
His opponent this week would be Evan Bourn. I thought this would a good contest as Evan is one of my favourite superstars on the Raw roster, I just wish he was pushed into bigger and better storylines instead of wasting time with people like Zack Ryder.
Nothing overly interesting happened in this match though. Near the end we see one of the Divas who was at ring side, Alicia Fox, decided to jump up and try to stop the Shooting Star Press, but Diva number two, Gail Kim, stopped her. After Evan takes the win he walks off with Gail on his arm.

Adverts roll then we come back to have John Cena come out to a crowd that’s happy to see him.
John starts off by thanking Shames for interrupting him last week as it gave him a week to think about the stipulation at Over The Limit.
He runs down the things he could chose for the match but there cowardly matches.
After some blabbing he finally announces that the match at Over The Limit would be, an I Quit match.
He then thanks Shames again and asks for him to come out so he can thank him in person.
Shames appears but doesn’t come to the ring, he says that if he comes down Cena wont live to see Over The Limit. Cena calls him down anyway and Shames obliges to this but before he gets to the ring Batista runs out the crowd. After a beat down he throws Cena to Shames who gives him a Big Boot. Just as Batista is setting up a Batista Bomb Cena gets a hand from the world strongest man Mark Henry, he clears the ring and checks on Cena as Batista heads out.

We then cut to Edge and Vicki chatting back stage, they talk about being friends. Edge moves on to ask Vicki to be at ring side tonight, Vicki refuses but Edge brings her around and she agrees to do so.

We move on to the other half of the Heart Dynasty vs. The Miz. If Tyson wins a member of the Heart Family gets a shot at Miz’s United States Title.
This was short match again and nothing special, Tyson wins via a quick roll up. The Miz then says that Tyson shouldn’t be so happy as he didn’t personally win anything and the stipulation is that Miz decides who he will defend his title against out of the Heart Family. He says it won’t be Tyson, it won’t be David, and it won’t even be Natalya, you can all see what’s coming next, he picks Bret Heart, so next week on Raw we have Miz vs Bret for the US title.
We then cut to Batista backstage who gets told by Josh Matthews that he has a match with Mark Henry later on in the night.

After the ads we have the NXT rookies in the ring for a 8 on 4 tag match against the crazy team of, John Morrison, Yoshi Tatsu, Santino Marella and Golddust.
This match was done under typical tag rules. The match was nothing special again, we saw Yoshi and Morrison face off against a few of the Rookies, then it all came to an end when Daniel Bryan got tagged in and so did Santino, Daniel picks up the win by a quick roll up. We didn’t even see half the Rookies in action nor did we see goldy boy take to the ring.

We now move on to a plug from our guest host again who gets interrupted by the Russian and the Italian, Kozlov and Santino we then soon add a Brit to the mix, William Regal. This is quite funny as Regal is enticed into a little rapping segment.

A quick run down of the matches for Over The Limit before we move on to Batista vs. Mark Henry. Once in the ring Batista gets a chair and sits down in the ring as we head to a break.
When we return, Batista is still sitting comfortable in the ring as Mark heads down. Just as Mark goes to get in the ring the Animal pounces he then takes the chair and goes to work on him.
Batista locks in a very painful looking submission hold on Mark, a load of refs try to stop him but can’t, Batista holds it until the point that Mark passes out.
Once done Batista leaves Mark in a heap in the ring, and heads out.

When we return we have Randy come to the ring for his match. We then have Edge accompanied by Vickie come out; they stay at the top of ramp as they introduce his tag team partner, Ted DiBiase.
This match was nothing to get overly excited about, we saw Randy do what he does best like we all want to see. Randy wins after R-Truth comes down to distract Ted. Once all over Randy locks sights onto Vicki.
He falls to the mat and coils to strike. He slithers out of the ring eyes not leaving Vicki. Vicki try’s her best to talk him down but just ends up breaking into cries until she shouts that she resigns and runs away, an RKO is planted on Edge who was about to attack Randy. I’m guessing from this, that the guest hosts will continue on.

Final thoughts of this show are low. I didn’t think much of this show as the matches were to short, and just seemed to bore me. I think they need to work on doing some longer more gripping matches again like on SmackDown! Friday and cutting down on the promos and backstage segments as they take up to much time.

Next weeks Raw will be commercial free, I believe it will be from MontrĂ©al and if that is so it should be Bret’s last appearance on Raw before his contact is up.

That’s all for now Matty.D Signing out.

McIntyre Fired!!

Kicking off SmackDown! Is Matt Hardy, he wonders to the ring acting quite angry and injured. He grabs a mic and moves on to show a tape of him getting injured by McIntyre and Ziggler, this was followed up by the attack from last week backstage.
Matt then proceeds to talk about McIntyre but this was cut short as McIntyre made his way down to the ring.
McIntyre starts talking about how Vince McMahon thinks he is the future of WWE. Matt Hardy doesn’t back down and calls Drew to the ring. They enter a slug fest just throwing punches as the crowd chant Hardy and refs try to split the two.
Once Matt’s back is turned McIntyre makes a sneak attack and just lays into Matt and the refs struggle to retain him.
Teddy comes out and calls for Drew to stop when he doesn’t listen Teddy suspends him, when he still doesn’t stop he is striped of the Intercontinental Title, he still continues so Teddy moves on to a straight up firing.
McIntyre is removed from the building and Matt is left with a medic by the ring. McIntyre says that he will go to Vince and knowing him he will and we may see Teddy be the one fired.
This was a brilliant opening segment to open with, had me and Paul cringing at some of the hits we saw.

When we come back from the ads Josh Matthews is questioning Teddy but he can’t seem to answer questions straight and seems worried, most probably playing on the fact that Vince may now fire him.
We then head to MVP making his way to the ring for a one on one fight against Festus, I mean Luke Gallows.
This was a great contest; I didn’t see either of these to falter through out the match.
MVP does well to get the Crowd behind him as he starts Balling. As he goes for the Playmaker Serena jumps up for the distraction, this works for a minute but MVP takes control for the win as simultaneously Rey jumped into view and nails punk before running back through the crowd.

When we come back from the ads CM Punk and the S.E.S are in the ring and Punk starts calling Rey a coward for attacking from behind, he then moves on to call out Rey.
Rey comes out and says that he was giving Punk a taste of his own medicine doing what the mystery man has been doing. He asks who the man is where he is going to attack from next.
Punk starts denying it and saying Rey is delusional, and that there is no mystery man. Rey reverses the argument and says how Punk is delusional and that he is here to shave Punks head. Punk says that he beat Rey at Extreme Rules and that he can not do so, but Rey comes back by stating he beat Punk at Wrestlemania, so it’s one to one. Rey and Punk agree to one more match, CM Punk loses he shaves head if Rey loses he joins the S.E.S.
Rey then continues to say why wait till Over the Limit, but Punk refuses. Rey moves on to agree with Punk on what the S.E.S stands for but we do not like the messenger and that he should lead by example and shave his head but Punk is apparently to good for that because he is better than everyone.
Rey starts trying to turn Luke and Serena against him, as he does we see the wheels turning in there heads but no switching sides yet. Rey ends this great promo by saying that there is no escape from the 619.

After the ads we have a snore segment as we head into a Divas Tag Match between LayCool and Kelly Kelly and partner Tiffany.
I could see how this was going to go but I wanted to see some improvement from these Divas.
Michelle seems to show her usual dominance in this match against Tiffany until Matt Stryker’s English love muffing Layla is tagged in and Kelly Joins from the other side, this lead into a bit of mess until LayCool take the win. There is potential from all these divas but WWE just don’t want to push them to there full extent.

After this we see Teddy tell us how we will decide a new Intercontinental Champion. He announces that we will be having a Tournament between, Dolph, Kofi, Cody and Christian. Kofi vs. Dolph and Cody vs. Christian set to happen later in the night. The winners of these matches will go head to head next week to crown a new champion.
After a little ad break we have the first part of this Tournament between Dolph and Kofi.
This was another great contest between these two; I do love how WWE superstars are showing how they can put on a good match regardless of the restrictions WWE has put in place.
We saw some great moves in this contest from both superstars and these two knew how to make them look good.
It ended with a close 2 count that lead into the sleeper from Dolph, when we thought it was all over for Kofi he gets free and is able to nail the Trouble in Paradise and get the 3.
I love how the WWE have started using the close 2 counts more frequently after big moves; it puts us on the edge of our seats as we actually don’t know when a match will end making it more unpredictable.

When we return from the adverts we head into the second match in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Christian vs. Cody Rhodes. Christian’s NXT rookie Heath Slater is at ringside for this contest as well.
I really enjoyed this match, both of these superstars are growing on me and I can see them moving into some good storylines.
Cody is showing great potential for the future as is Christian as well, regardless of who wins I still see them both moving up in the ranks.
This match is quite explosive in WWE standards; we see a top rope Superplex, reversals and close 2 counts.
We see this end on Christian pulling off the Killswitch to take the win; this was the best match of the night a great contest. I am really looking forward to next weeks final match Christian vs. Kofi Kingston, but I do see Vince rehiring Drew and adding him to the match.

We now have some looks back at Big Show from last week, and the incidence between McIntyre and Hardy earlier in the night.
After that we have Jack Swagger come down to the ring, with mic in hand the crowd begin to boo but quite down when he starts talking. This crowd isn’t as riled up as the last time; this crowd just had the odd boo’s but didn’t really get behind it which was a shame. While Jack babbled on we went to a short break when we came back he was still going. At this point the crowd started to chant you suck but instead of keeping it up they went quite again when he spoke.
Jack was finally made quite by the explosion of Kane’s pyro as he heads to the ring.

Not long into this match we have the Big Shows music and he heads down to the ring sporting a new suit and looking quite snazzy. He joins Matt and Todd at the Announcers table.
Big Show stays neutral on the table being nice to Matt and Todd as well as complementing both Kane and Jack’s in ring ability’s.
The match comes to an end as Jack Swagger used an exposed turn buckle for longer than a 5 count. The crowd chant Big Show as Swagger steps towards Show, he thinks twice though and turns round but meets Kane’s boot. Kane clears the table but ends being thrown into the stairs. When he turns from Kane he is caught by Big Show and sent through the announcers table. Big Show takes the World Title and gets in the ring and posses with it making a statement. This ends off a very good show.

My final thoughts of this night are very good, WWE are evolving well even with this PG rating but it should still be removed but hey, they are doing ok.
I love the close calls they are putting into matches making things a lot less predictable and more gripping.
I am looking forward to next weeks show and I am starting to enjoy SmackDown! More and more each week.

I will do another Blog soon with a more in depth look at the events from the night.

Orton Vs. Edge added

Update’s for the upcoming PPV, Over The Limit.
Randy Orton Vs Edge has been added to the card I see this being an interesting contest.
Cena Vs Batista is still looking like The Animals last PPV for a while, suspicion is that the stipulation will be loser leaves show match; this would bring an end to the story and gives Batista an easy way of leaving.
Batista has spoke about doing other things such as movies but it wouldn’t mean the end of his wrestling career, he will most probably make a return in the future. He has said that he would not go to TNA as they could not provide the same payment as WWE where he is earning several million a year.

Beth Phoenix suffered a minor injury during a recording of Superstars during the week, she will be out of action through most of the Mexican tour, but isn’t expected to miss much after that.

Now this is a important blog for me as this is my 10th blog, I have never put so much effort into something like this before so to do 10 in about a week and a half is quite a accomplishment for me.
I do hope I am getting some readers and that those readers are enjoying these blogs.

Are You WIlling To Blow Up WWE HQ For Mickie James?

Just some updates on what’s going on inside the WWE world and a little look back at Raw.
First and most interesting story is the one of a WWE fan making threats of blowing up WWE’s headquarters.
This is an emotionally disturbed person who was very upset about the release of former WWE Diva, Mickie James. The man has been arrested and is no longer aloud to contact any WWE employees, is not aloud near the WWE headquarters in Stamford and is not aloud to WWE events.

In other news, the Monday night wars is over as TNA moves back to Thursday nights as there ratings on Mondays just didn’t hold well in the US, in fact the last Mondays show got the lowest ever rating on Spike TV.
I’m sure Tommy will give you more news on the move back to Thursdays in one of his later Blogs.

Bret Heart is also showing interest in staying with the WWE longer, as he is really enjoying the work and being back with the fans.
He is currently scheduled to make his last Raw appearance from Toronto on May 17th. Although Bret doesn’t see himself carrying on after that date he said. “At the same time I wouldn't rule anything out if I can play a useful role. It’s not like I’m doing much these days”

Now onto last nights Raw an overall good show. I’m looking forward to seeing where we are heading with the current storylines. I think Edge and Randy will make a great set of matches and Orton’s Viper persona is growing more and more popular.
The interesting side to this story is that Edge is complaining about the PG rating and that he wants it to be rated R. I am not really sure what WWE are doing with this, is it there way of slowly removing the PG rating maybe turning things back around, or is it there way of telling us that they know what’s wrong with the shows and are not willing to make things better because they want to lose fans.
I like the idea of Jericho and Miz becoming a team, and starting a story with the Heart Dynasty. These guys are so great on the mic and are great Heel in ring competitors so we should see a great tag teame formed here.
Now a Quick question for my readers, (if I have any.) What do you think should be the name of Chris and Miz’s Tag Team? I have referred to them as The Big Shows Rejects, but leave your ideas in a comment below, the best one I will use to refer to them in future Blogs.
Now onto last nights guest host Wayne Brady when I first heard it was him I was looking forward to it but I was bitterly disappointed as he only had about 3 segments overall. They definitely could have used him more but just left him out most of the show. Usually I would find that to be a bad aspect but when Wayne wasn’t on screen we actually had a proper wrestling show.
I think next week will be an interesting show to see what is coming next in these new storylines.

Edge wants rated R not rated PG.

Raw
3/5/10

Kicking off Raw last night we had the announcement of the return of the Cutting Edge after an apparent 3 years with out it returning later in the night, and the guest being Randy Orton.
After this we went to Batista. He came down in his usual spot light stared at a random fan before proceeding to the ring to complain as he has nothing better to do. But don’t get me wrong he works well with the crowd so this is a decent promo to kick things off.

He complained about being #1 contender again and then complaining about the last man standing match before reciting the rules to us. (Listen carefully you will hear a fan shout “You suck.”)
Batista claims that the actions of Cena at Extreme Rules were the most embracing moment of Cena’s life.
After that Batista announces that it will be a beat the clock challenge between himself and Cena to decide the stipulation at Over The Limit.
After that he started calling out his opponent The Miz, but received Shames.
Shames proceeded to gloat about how he won his match at Extreme Rules against his opponent, and adds insults to Batista. He then challenges Batista to a match for his #1 contender spot. Batista refuses saying that Shames lost his chance. After some final words Shames makes his way out.

When we head back from the adverts Miz has just got to the ring but is not in ring attire.
He talks about being sucker punched and that he has a doctors note (you heard me right, a doctors note) that says he can not compete. He then moves on to say his replacement is Miz’s NXT rookie Daniel Bryan.
Once Bryan is to the ring Miz has the mic snatched from him by Bryan. Bryan then claims he will make Batista tap out.

The match kicks off and already Bryan had Batista on his toes with a close roll up and then an ankle lock before Batista ducked out the ring.
Once back in Batista takes control.
This was a very good match to me showing why Daniel is the so called best on NXT, always keeping Batista on edge with submissions where ever he could lock one in and pulling that clock out as much as he can, he just didn’t want to give up, every pin he was put in he kicked out.
Bryan locks in a very cool looking Armbar/Crossface almost tapping out the animal but unfortunately he got to the ropes. After that he did some taunting leading to getting a kick to the leg which leads to a Spear and a Batista Bomb, winning with a time of 5:06.
When the match was over Batista gave Bryan another Bomb, he then walked away before turning back and doing it one more time.
Now it was obvious that Batista was going to win but it was a good match showing the skill of Daniel.
We then find out that Chris Jericho will be Cena’s opponent later in the night.

When we return from the break we see Brady back stage chatting with Eve. Then Jillian joins to make a little comical skit.
After Brady and Jillian leave, Eve gets attacked by Maryse.
We then head over to edge talking with a member of staff about what footage he wants to use in his Cutting Edge later on, but anything he asks for the guy says he can’t use it. Oh I wonder why? PG rating perhaps? This is an interesting move for WWE they are actually having Edge subtly tell us that WWE are rubbish as they can’t use hardcore footage, but it doesn’t even stay subtle as they push that further.
He then gets joined by Josh Matthews asking about Randy. Edge then proceeds to put down WWE by saying about the PG rating and how he is rated R! and that he wants to start new age of controversy again! This was answered by a cheer from the crowd because this is what we want.
All I personally have to say to that is “Oh My God! YES! Do that!!”
I really don’t know what they are aiming for with this but if it means coming back to rated R, coming back to the era of TLC, Blood and so on, I am backing Edge all the way, this also shows that WWE knows what’s wrong and that they might (big might) do something about it.

After the Ads we have “the Million Dollar Baby” (equipped with Title) coming to the ring.
Ted talks about his moment last week with Truth before saying he will hire an associate, and that person will slap Truth. This led into John Morrison coming to the ring to face Ted in his first match on Raw.
This match showed some great skill at first with Morrison flying over the ropes to receive, from an area of the crowd a “this is awesome” chant.
Morrison re entered the ring but purposely Ted got counted out. As Ted walked away Morrison got a mic and called him back saying he will restart the match. Ted just ignored him but then Morrison said that if he loses, he will be Ted’s associate. This worked Ted headed back to the ring to kick it off again.
When we come back from the ads Morrison is in a leg scissors. This led into a pretty solid match between the two and did show why these guys are the rising stars with some great moments scattered though out the contest.
This match ended with Ted going for Dream Street but Morrison reversed it into a pin that Ted didn’t even realise he was in. After the 3 count Ted attacks John from behind but luckily he’s saved by R-Truth.
We could see a good story line forming here between Truth & Morrison and Ted and his, to be decide associate.

We head back from the ads and have the man a lot of us wish we couldn’t see John Cena.
Jericho then appears but like Miz, he is not dressed to compete.
He claims that he will not use the same excuse that Miz used and just says that by facing him it would be a waste of his time. Then he brings out his replacement Chris’s NXT rookie, Wade Barrett.
So we start the match with the clock winding down as the two go straight into a mixture of locks. This match showed once again some good skill from the NXT rookie but if it wasn’t for Jericho’s interference this match looked to be one sided. Once Jericho helped, Wade went into just slugging it out and putting fists into Cena while Chris shouts at Cole and King.
At the 2 minutes mark looked like Cena was going to come back just to meet a boot to the face and Wade stays in control. This was really showing how Wade is a good future star of WWE I must say it would be great to get another Brit on the Roster since WWE removed the Burchill’s.
27 seconds left on the clock when Cena made Wade tap out to the STF.
Cena didn’t waste anytime in going to say what the match will be but was interrupted by Shames attacking him and leaving Cena laid out in the ring. It was at this point I was wondering when Wayne Brady was going to start actually doing some Hosting?

Back from the ads and we have the very pretty but not a great wrestler Maryse head to the ring. We then see double as the Belle Twins come down as one is set to wrestle Maryse.
One word now, “snore” because this is another nap section that’s if you had time to close your eyes as the match was over before you would of even had a chance to put your head back.
Maryse then talks some French then introduces her new photo shoot; of coarse this is her lying with the Divas title over the unconscious Eve. It didn’t take long for Eve to come down to the ring but was stopped from getting at Maryse by the Ref.

We come back from the ads to have…. Zack Ryder? …..Really?......REALLY?....Well ok whatever then….
He talks about still being on Raw and why he has Divas sitting by the ring. He calls out Primo but Wayne shows up on the screen and says he would be better off against, you guessed it, Mark Henry.
Un important match of Mark beating on Zack and the girls not so impressed, Zack gets some control but doesn’t take long for Mark to take control again.
World strongest slam and a 1-2-3 and that match is over and the Divas by the ring, Gail and Alicia weren’t impressed, by Zack but gladly left on the Arm of the Worlds Strongest Man.
We then have Chris and Miz talking back stage about Big Show, like a couple of ex boy friends.
Chris then says “lets make a statement” and that he has an idea before they walk off down the hall way. We maybe seeing the formation of a new Tag Team here. The Heart Dynasty vs. The Big Shows Rejects for Over The Limit perhaps.

Ads end and we have Kozlov backstage talking with Brady. They get joined by Santino in an afro wig, he talks about wanting to join the Russian in a tag match but finds out that Regal has already taken that spot. They all leave and Brady says some words to Gold dust. Not a particularly funny moment, I have seen better, they are defiantly not using Brady’s full comedy potential.

When we return from yet another ads break we have Chris & Miz at ring side at the announcers table.
The Heart Dynasty comes down to the ring which is already occupied by there opponent’s, Kozlov and Regal.
As the match goes on Miz and Chris talk about there splitting with Big Show. I actually think that Chris and Miz would have been better on the announcers table than Cole & King.
The match was just a chance to push The Heart Dynasty as they made short work of the Russian and the Brit, as David Heart makes Regal tap to the Sharp Shooter. Straight after The Miz makes his attack but was taken down by David but he couldn’t stop the coming Code Breaker from Jericho, Miz then nails The Skull Crushing Finale on the lifeless David.

We come back from the Ads and we find out next weeks host is Falva Flave. We then have Edge head down the ring for the Cutting Edge. Straight away Jerry was saying about how Edges Rated R ways may not fly in WWE’s new era.

Edge starts talking about explanations, and interestingly he isn’t acting fully Heel nor fully Face, kind of in the middle similar to Randy.
He then talks about the reasons for what he did. Then he is about to introduce Randy when we see Wayne Brady head down to the ring.
Edge seems quite pleased to see him and continues to chat and interview him.
Brady talks about being a fan of WWE for a long time, and that he wants to try and see what it’s like to be a WWE superstar, and proceeds into a little trash talking about previous guest hosts. He is soon interrupted by Randy’s music as he makes his way down to the ring.
Orton comes in and gives his icy stare to both of them before RKOing Brady and then aiming for Edge.
Edge attempts to talk Randy down. He is drowned out mid way by RKO chants. Edge goes on to talk about there former tag team, Rated RKO, and how he wants to start that again, and both of them can pick the bones after Cena and Batista’s match at Over The Limit. Randy just continues to stare so Edge gets frustrated and starts shouting about how its not fare, how he tried to please us and we didn’t really give it all to him, and how Randy cares about nothing but himself and we all get behind him. Edge then says that Randy will join him or he will continue to Spear him week after week. Edge then shouts for Randy to say something but he continues to stare, he then goes for the RKO but is reversed and Big Booted, Edge lines up but as the Spear comes in he meets an RKO.
Randy chants are heard and his music is played as we close out the show.

This was another interesting episode of Raw, showing this time that the WWE may actually be listening to us, the Fans. There making some good storylines and a possible push on that PG rating but that still maybe only a dream.
This has defiantly got me wondering what’s to come and looking forward to next weeks show.

PPV’s May Start Hurting Your Wallet

Recently WWE held an annual shareholders meeting covering a mixture of different aspects of the company.
Vince opened this meeting by talking about people holding Wrestlemania parties; this increases the overall views but hurts overall buys.
Vince said this relates to PPV price increase.
Now I am not sure if it is only taking affect in the USA or going world wide. At the moment we Brits pay around £15 for a Box Office WWE PPV, which is already quite steep for 3 hours of viewing. If this increases I don’t see many people wanting to pay, epically with the lacklustre shows that WWE is currently producing due to there PG rating.
My advice is unless you are a hardcore WWE fan; do not pay to watch it alone. My advice is to try and get an invite to a PPV party or throw one yourself, the more people together the less each will have to pay.

For more from this meeting check out wrestling-edge.com (link at bottom of page).

Don’t forget Raw tonight at 2am guest host “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” star Wayne Bardy.
I’m hoping this will be a funny Raw as Wayne Brady is a ledged of improve comedy as well as a great presenter, actor and singer.
Also we may be looking at Cena vs. Batista yet again, if this match is to happen I see it being samey and boring, I am hoping they add in some partners to make it a Tag match of some kind, maybe Cena and The Heart Dynasty could be a good combo or maybe even work in Wayne for a gimmick match.

I am interested in what we will be seeing from some new fresh story lines tonight as Raw focuses most of there nights around the WWE championship.
Hopefully we will see Orton and Edge continue there feud I think we can see a good few matches out of it, plus any chance to have Randy become the Viper and nail the Rope hung DDT, the Irish whip scoop slam, the RKO in full Viper form and maybe even a punt is always great to see.
Randy is Fast becoming one of those Superstars that you want to see in a match regardless of who he is against as long as he is doing what we all get behind and he is fast becoming a very big fan favourite.
Edge is heading back into a heel state which is preferred by most of his fans and with his in ring skill I see this becoming a great set of matches done well with close calls and nail biting stuff.
If this all comes forth I am looking forward to it and I expect some of the best matches in resent months, also showing that WWE can put on a good show even with a PG rating, although blood would still help improve things in places. But there is no need to flood the ring with it like in some of TNA’s extreme matches such as there Monsters Ball.

JTG Stays on SmackDown!

Ok so I have a correction to make. I was informed by my co writer Tommy that JTG has in fact stayed on SmackDown!
During the supplemental draft JTG did move across to Raw, but was later removed from the draft changes and has remained on SmackDown! This means that his promo on SD last night was not un-needed as SmackDown! Is to stay his home.
It does on the other hand make me re think the story line I spoke about before. With JTG staying where he is it changes the routine that this sort of split usually follows, but I do still see him fazing out.
My theory is that JTG and Shad will rival towards a championship most than likely the Intercontinental Championship. We could see them have a #1 contender’s match in the coming weeks on SD, and then a title match at WWE’s latest PPV creation, Over The Limit.
At this point the person who won the #1 contender match could win the Title and continue moving up while the other fazes out, or this person could lose at the PPV causing both to faze out.
Another possibility is that one will get that title shot at Over The Limit but lose do to interference from the other, this would drag out the storyline possibly into Fatal 4 Way. This match would most likely be between the former Cryme Tyme, the champion of that time and fourth not so important superstar. That is if it falls into the 4 way rules.
Once again this is all just my theory and opinions so don’t hold me to it.

That’s all for today so this is Matty.D signing off.

Big Show SmackDowns! Everyone!

SmackDown!
30/4/10

SmackDown! Run-Down.

SmackDown! Off to a great start with Kofi kicking off with Jericho’s final match before heading over to Raw.

This was a great contest between the two and ended with Kofi kicking off Jericho’s head for the win.

This was followed by a Jack Swagger Promo to show how great he apparently is although it’s just to help the fans get behind him or should I say against him.

We now see Chris backstage talking to an off screen person which was obviously the Big Show this was reviled by his fist entering the screen and into Chris’s face, pushing more on this new face (good guy) Big Show we are seeing and the crowd cheered at that sudden whack.

Moving on we just had to know that Chavo was back on SD by him having a little chat to the crowd. This was interrupted by the Big Red Monster Kane as he made his way to the ring, and choke slammed him to the mat. De Ja Vue I hear you say? Well that’s because it was the scene of WM24 when Kane won the ECW title. Kane welcomes back Chavo and then sets off his usual pyro.

After the Ads we have Shad confirm my theory even more by having a little promo about how it is his time.

We then have the final SmackDown! Match of John Morrison against new SD member Cody Rhodes.

Out of interest who else has notice that the logo on Cody’s boots is the Triforce of Hyrule from Zelda?

This is turning out to be a good match and may be proving me wrong when it comes to Cody fazing out. He is showing strong potential in this match which could push him into a good story line.

It was a good back and forth match with close 2 counts and some good reversals. The whole match was impressive with neither of these superstars showing a bad side as they put all they could into it.

Cody nails the Cross Rhodes on Morrison picking up a win. I definitely see him proving me wrong and actually rising and not fazing out. Either way he should be quite interesting,

Straight after we had Jack say about how great he is, yet again….. We don’t care.

After the ads we have Edges final farewell to the SD crowd. He says his good bye and saying that he loves us so obviously still face for now. After this Christian popped down to the ring and a great sight it was seeing these to former tag team partners in the ring together again, Edge even has to stop and say, “Edge & Christian” but this renewed friendship was not to last long.

Christian talks about there historic past, then leads on to say that what Edge said to us, was a load of crap.

Edge say’s he is a 9 time world champion and asks how many world titles Christian has held. Now although he says none we all know he has held world titles in both TNA and NWA.

After pushing it Edge turns on us finally turning back to heel. Christian then moves on to challenge Edge to match right there and then. Edge refuses but then cheap shots Christian and sets up for a spear, it’s reversed and they end up in a slug fest, this ends with a possible kill switch (un prettier) but is reversed.

Christian then leads the crowd into the chant “Na Na Na Naa, Na Na Naa Na, heeeeyyy Gooodbyye!”

After the ads we see Edge being asked about the previous encounter to have Big Show confront him then lay a fist into his face as well.

It looks like Big Show is getting his fans back by leaving hand prints in all the people we don’t like, and he is really laying into them with these hits, they are looking pretty damn real.

Now its time for a toilet break as we have a short Divas tag match between LayCool and Beth and new SD Diva Kelly.

Once again only two of these divas have skill if you ask me, being Beth and McCool but Layla is showing improvement.

Once again we have Jack saying how great he is and…. We STILL don’t care.

After the ads we have Chris Master’s put on a great little skit with his dancing pecks which was so much better than Jack’s promos.

Next up is Mr.Ziggles coming down and saying his proudest moment was putting Horswaggle in a Sleeper; this just seemed like a time killer as it didn’t have relevance to anything.

We then see the “injury” of Matt Hardy from last week, followed with Matt talking about it back stage to be attacked by McIntyre. De Ja Vue I hear you say again? Well that’s because he did it to R-Truth during his opening storyline.

We then see a boring message from JTG saying that he wants gold, this was boring pointless and hard to understand and since he was drafted to Raw why is he talking to SD crowd about it?

Moving on we have CM Punk come out to have one of his great promos showing why he is so good on the mic and why we all hate him. He is cut short by MVP another great microphone user.

The crowd really enjoyed this and seems to be kicking off a possible good storyline.

MVP makes his way to the ring and then hits Punk causing a fight to break out. MVP gets mauled before Rey Mysterio comes to save the day.

After the break we have a Tag match in action between Rey & MVP and the S.E.S.

Once again we see some great wrestling skill and tag moves and a lot of unwanted chest hair.

We have the crowd chanting and getting behind this match and I must say I am impressed by this as the crowds are usually dull making the show dull regardless of what is happening in the ring, so to have a livelier crowd makes a livelier event.

Rey & MVP came out on top but while cheering the mystery man appears to take Rey down.

After this guess what? Jack wants you to know how great he is again. In the words of my mums fiancĂ©e F*** off! But he just wasn’t done he just had to come to the ring to tell us more.

Out of interest again did anyone else notice that he was using a replica World Title belt last week before Extreme Rules?

The crowd wanted to be as load and disrespectful to Jack every time he tried to lisp a sentence to us and they succeeded. I have to say this is a very good thing, it shows that he is becoming someone we love to hate, and the crowd would have really loved doing it. And Jack loved it, because it shows that they know who he is.

He seems to be a lot like JBL in some ways coming out and gloating and bragging, he could turn out to be a very good Heel Champion from this.

Jack is finally shut up by Teddy Long who comes out to cheers of the crowd. He announces that the #1 contender the title is the man who has been leaving a hand print in all the heels, the 7ft giant the Big Show.

Show comes down to the ring to help the crowd in the disrespect of Jack.

Some caned heat was used to start a “Knock Him Out” chant and they soon got it as Big Show laid him out in one punch to close the show.

My thoughts of this show are pretty good. I really enjoyed this show it had some good matches and some great promos kicking us into the new stories leading off the draft.

I really like Big Shows punch being a main move, as before it was performed in a sloppy manna but now seems to be done well, with an awesome sound to the impact, but we still need to see this newer version of the move in a match, it could be done sloppy again.

Cody seems to of kicked off well which I didn’t expect but it is a good thing as he is a great in ring competitor and Jack is getting the crowd to hate him which is showing that we are getting a more lively show and a more active crowd.

Let’s just hope that all this hype is from the crowd and not caned heat coming from the speakers all the time.

This was a great end to the week for WWE and I am looking forward to Raw this Monday night.
