This weeks Raw was its usual, up and down show with highs and lows.
The show started with Sheamus. He came to the ring to speak his usual drivel and also insult the younger WWE fans. He compared Randy Orton to a spoiled child and claimed that Orton did not deserve another title shot.
The GM soon chimed in to show some favouritism towards Sheamus. The GM had a throne brought out, he then said that Sheamus would sit in that throne and watch the night’s action, at the end of the night Sheamus can then select his opponent for NOC.
Sheamus took his seat on the throne and got ready to watch the first match of the night.
R-Truth went head to head with Edge in a good opening contest. Edge came out the winner after dodging a kick and landing the Spear. The match was very back and forth, I hope they use Truth more often in big matches.
After the match Edge cut a little promo giving reasons why he should get the shot at the WWE championship.
Chris Jericho then went against a slightly injured Great Khali. Through out the match Jericho targeted Khali’s injured leg. After a less than amazing bout Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho and made Khali tap.
He also cut a promo about his reasons for getting the shot.
We then took a break from that storyline to have a boring Divas contest.
Melina took on Jillian Hall. Melina of cores won.
After the contest LayCool appeared on the big screen to announce that they will be at Raw next week for the 900th episode, I am interested in where this story is going, I’m guessing that we may see one member of LayCool take on Melina for the Divas title at NOC, that way LayCool can have an official title each.
Next the Nexus was bought out. The GM announced that he was impressed with them last week and there ban on competing for titles was now lifted. Wade then looked to Sheamus and said, “Our truce is over.”
We then had Miz vs. Cena in another good contest showing Miz’s continuing development.
The match was back and forth but Miz ended up winning by DQ as Daniel Bryan came to the ring and attacked Miz. Cena then smiled and left Bryan to do as he wished. Bryan got in the ring and locked in his very deadly looking cross face. It took 4 or 5 refs to pry the enraged man off.
We then saw Santino and Vladimir beat the Usos. We also saw the development of Tamina having feelings for Santino in a lame storyline.
We then had an excellent three way match as Randy Orton, John Morrison and Ted DiBase butted heads. Some of Morrison’s kicks didn’t look to great but that was about the only fault I saw.
Orton once again shone through as he nailed an RKO to a flying Morrison to take the win. Once he was standing tall DiBase came in for the attack but also fell to the RKO.
The Celtic warrior had decided to leave during the last match. Back stage he said he has decided who he will face.
He returned to the ring and said that he will defend his championship tonight instead of NOC against his challenger…. Zack Ryder…. That’s right.
He beat him very quickly retaining his title. He then announced that according to contract he doesn’t have to defend the title for another 30 days. All seemed good for Sheamus, a bye for NOC easy he thinks, wrong.
Wade Barrett came to the ring and reminded Sheamus of what Wade won after NXT. A title shot of his choice at a PPV of his choosing, and he announced that Sheamus will take Wade on at NOC for the WWE title.
The GM soon chimed announcing that Sheamus will not just defend against Wade but also against four others in a 6 pack challenge.
He then reviled the rest of the opponents, Edge, Chris Jericho, John Cena, and Randy Orton.
All the men stood in the ring, Wade then realised he was in a very familiar situation but he was on the other side of the coin.
Wade found himself surrounded by the rest of the men, he tried to talk himself out of it but wasn’t successful as he was mauled by the group and thrown out the ring by Sheamus. Sheamus then turned into a Code Breaker that led Jericho into a Spear, which led Edge into an Attitude Adjustment, and then ended on an RKO to Cena to leave Orton standing tall once again.
I think this is going to be one hell of a match but I do wish it was a Championship Scramble and not a 6 Pack Challenge.
Like I said before, it was a high and low show.
Next week we see the historic 900th episode with stars from SmackDown! And Raw coming together for a Super Show so make sure to tune in as they make history.
On other news shockingly S.E.S Diva Serena has been released.
Wrestling Edge posted the following:
While specific details surrounding Serena’s abrupt departure from WWE have yet to be disclosed, it said that she was let go in a disciplinary measure. The Pro Wrestling Torch cryptically notes that she was not “living out” her Straight Edge Society persona in public.
The decision to cut the six-time Ohio Valley Wrestling Women’s Champion was actually made a few days ago, but word had not surfaced until Monday night.
It would appear that an official announcement has not yet been made by WWE as she’s due to make an appearance on this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, which was taped last Wednesday. She accompanies Luke Gallows to the ring for a match against Big Show.
*********************************************************************
So it looks like Fridays SmackDown! Will be the last we see of Serena. Weather or not she will be resigned in the future is unknown, maybe we will see her move to TNA as it looks like she can wrestle from what we saw the week before and her history at OVW and FCW I just hope when we see her again she will have her hair back.
Well that’s all for now Matty.D signing off.
