Last nights Capitol Punishment came to impress and didn’t disappoint, it was full of great matches from begging to end; all matches came in full force with the exception of maybe one.
The night kicked off with Kofi vs. Dolph in a great starting contest, there was an apparent controversial end to the match with Dolph using the rope to roll him and Kofi back to the centre of the ring while using the Sleeper Hold. The hold should have been broken, or Dolph be Disqualified for using the ropes, instead the Ref called for the bell as Kofi was “out cold”, and rewarded Dolph with the US title. Great match but odd ending to it.
Alex Riley then took on the Miz in another great contest, A-Ry finally breaking off on his own and showing why he should be a top Superstar. He’s a great performer and I still say he has a great future ahead of him, that’s if WWE don’t drop the ball.
A-Ry came out the winner to the ovation of this excellent Washington Crowd.
Big Show vs. Alberto Del Rio was next but this wasn’t as entertaining in my opinion. Before the match had even started Big Show was beating on Del Rio until Mark Henry came along to get revenge for last SmackDown! Mark slammed Big Show through the Spanish announcers table proving why he is called “The Worlds Strongest Man.” He then bashed Show’s knee giving Del Rio a nice target.
Although Show was technically to injured to compete the match still went ahead, Del Rio focused on the leg and in the end the Ref ended the match as Show was unable to continue and made Del Rio the winner.
Big Zeke took on Wade Barrett next, this match was better than there previous but wasn’t the best ever; Zeke took the win and his first Intercontinental title. He still needs work so where he goes from here depends on how the crowd responds.
The next match was an absolute gem! Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk, two men who when in the ring together will put it all out there and perform to there best ability every time. Punk has become one of my all time favourites one of the best Heel’s of this time, great in ring competitor, brilliant promo and mic work. If CM Punk ever left WWE you would have many gutted fans. Punk walked away with the win this night. Before the match CM Punk hinted at “Doing the most honest thing the WWE Universe has ever seen.” After he had won match. When the match ended though he didn’t do anything at all, maybe there is something to be announced on Raw?
Next was the World Title match between Christian and Randy Orton. The match did have a different flavour to it than there previous contests as I predicted, but I didn’t take into consideration Randy’s change in this match. Before he played it out as any other match, but this time it’s against a rival, anger is in the middle so Randy’s style changed to no holding back.
Another brilliant match that was very back and forth, spears got jumped, RKO’s got foiled but in the end Christian fell to the Vipers Sting! An amazing match.
Next up was a bonus match from one of my favourite mid carders, Evan Bourn. He went up against the All American American, another little gem; of course any match with Evan Bourn in full capacity is a gem in my opinion. Evan Bourn took the win over the former World and US Champion, what more reason do you want for this guy to be pushed? Evan Bourn is still a great performer and deserves to be on a bigger stage.
Through out the night we have had R-Truth promos back stage, with the WWE Championship that he stole during the week from Cena. This push on R-Truth I felt was to much, his chances of winning dropped rapidly and it just started to become sad.
Before there match we had an impersonator of President Obama come out and give a speech followed by a spin-a-roony with Booker T, pointless unneeded and this sort of thing is what makes WWE look stupid.
Finally the last match, R-Truth vs. John Cena, and you could just feel the heat coming off there rivalry through out. Truth kept up his crazy man act, talking to himself and insulting fans. The match had its usual “Cena Sucks, Lets go Cena” chants and new “Little Jimmy” chants. The match was another good one with a brilliant ending.
Truth ducks out the ring and takes a boy’s Cena hat, he then takes the boys drink and has some, as he gives it back, the boy throws the drink in Truths face, Cena then grabs Truth chucks him in the ring and lays out Truth with an Attitude Adjustment.
Truth was unable to grab his first World Title, and one lucky little lad gets to celebrate in the ring with John Cena.
Overall a brilliant PPV, one of the best that I’ve seen in a long time.
Out of 5 I give this 4.5. The silly Obama speech killed that 0.5 if that wasn’t included I would of given this the full amount.
Raw
Tomorrows Raw will be another 3 hour special, with the tag line “Power to the People.”
The night will be a fan choice night with people across America texting in what they want to see. Basically Taboo Tuesday or Cyber Sunday. Downside to this is its not open to the fans of the world, as its text only its going to be only the Americans that can text in, I feel on nights like this votes should be done on the website making it more accessible to international fans.
Questions for you.
What did you think of the PPV?
What do you think is coming next?
Who should be the next World and WWE Champs?
That’s all for now Matty.D Signing off!
