WWE’s “Super” Shows

Well Monday and Tuesday this week saw a “Raw Super Show” and a Live “Super SmackDown!” Both shows included great matches and great story telling.

Both shows saw Superstars from across WWE but of course the main story across both shows was the CM Punk, Triple H and Kevin Nash storyline.

Nash, Punk and Hunter

On the Raw show we had Kevin Nash announce that John Laurinaitis had signed him to a very lucrative contract, it was then that the match was finally made for Night Of Champions to have Kevin Nash face CM Punk. Oddly though at the end of Raw Triple H changed that match to CM Punk vs. Triple H.
On SmackDown! we had yet another interesting and brilliant contract signing for that match between Punk and Triple H, addressing the issue and pushing the story further.
In Story Triple H was saying how he wants to take things into his own hands and that it’s not business any more but it is personal. Punk was trying to push on the fact that he wants change in the WWE to make things better, something that will help the company if we get it.
The match was signed and Nash came to the ring and struck down both Punk and Triple H before leaving the arena.

Now in reality Nash apparently had a problem of some sort in his physical making him unfit to compete in a match, we may not see him compete at all in this return. I’m not sure how true that report is and it may still all be part of the storyline but for now it looks like Triple H vs. CM Punk at Night Of Champions with the possibility of Nash getting involved. Either way it should be good.

CM Punk did have a match on Raw against The Miz but it ended on R-Truth coming to Miz’s rescue that helps push on their possible Tag Team. Great match to.

Del Rio and Cena

Over both these shows we had the absence of WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, and you would have thought that when you do Super Shows you should have your Champion.  He was not missed though. His opponent for Night Of Champs was of course on both shows because John Cena is almost always on WWE TV. On Raw he ended up taking on Christian and Mark Henry, while tagged to the unlikely partner of Sheamus. It was another great match that ended the Raw show. On SmackDown Cena took on Englishman Wade Barrett in an entertaining kick start to the SmackDown show.

Mark Henry

Over recent weeks Mark Henry has had a great push and both Raw and SmackDown this week was no exception of this, he did well in the previously mentioned tag match and on SmackDown he made himself known after another great World Championship match between Randy Orton and Christian which Randy won.
Mark came to the ring got himself into the Cage after Randy’s victory, a brawl started but Mark got the upper hand laid out the Viper. Mark then took the Championship and posed over Randy, will this be the result at Night Of Champs?
This push on Mark has come across brilliantly and his Heel character has developed well. This may be because WWE are considering Mark as Undertakers opponent at Mania next year.
Taker is meant to be making his return at Vengeance to start his storyline to Mania, but to be honest even with Mark’s big push I would still prefer a bigger star to be Undertakers opponent at Mania, especially as this maybe his last Wrestlemania also he has already faced Mark at Mania in match that wasn’t the best.

Randy Orton

Randy Orton was able to shine on both shows this week, on Raw he took on US Champ Dolph Ziggler in a great match but it ended with a slightly dodgy looking RKO. And as previously mentioned he had an Epic match once again with Christian, to this point none of their matches have been bad and they always come to impress. Can he win at Night Of Champs though against the big man?

Sin Cara and Sin Cara

Left Místico, Right Incognito
Now if you don’t know all ready or you just haven’t realised, the Sin Cara we have been watching is not the one we were originally introduced to.
The first Sin Cara we watched was Mexican Luchador Místico, he was Sin Cara between the original debut and Money in the Bank.
After Money in the Bank it was announced that Místico had failed the WWE wellness programme and therefore he was suspended.
After a few weeks of absence Sin Cara was announced to be making his return, the Sin Cara that we got though, which is the one we have now, is Mexican Luchador Incognito.
Now out of the two I prefer Incognito, he may be bulkier but he seems to perform very well in the ring, better than Místico in my opinion.

So jump forward to this week, on Raw Sin Cara number 2 took on Jack Swagger and won. On SmackDown he took on Money in the Bank winner Daniel Bryan and won again both matches being good. At the end of the SmackDown match Sin Cara offered his hand in show of good sportsmanship to Daniel Bryan, after he kicked Bryan round the head marking the heel turn of Sin Cara, or at least this version of Sin Cara.
The possible outcomes to all this maybe a Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara match. It would be slightly odd but if the story pans out we could end up in a great Luchador match.

Tagging up

Tag champs AirBoom, AKA Evan Bourn and Kofi Kingston defended their titles against former champs David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty who have now been branded as a boring tag team, I do not agree, I still feel that they have a classic style and great tag chemistry. With WWE branding them as boring doesn’t help either of these young stars climb to be top performers.

So to sum up the two shows were great, SmackDown has recently been struggling in the ratings so let’s hope that the Super Show helped boost its ratings because the last thing people want is the loss of SmackDown.

Questions for you

Where do you think the Punk, Nash and Triple H Story is heading?

How would you feel about Mark vs. Taker at Mania?

Which Sin Cara do you prefer, that’s if you noticed?
Do you agree with WWE that Otunga and McGillicutty are boring?

I know that isn’t my best blog, I struggled to write this as I just didn’t know where to start, there is so much going on right now that I couldn’t get my bearings. I am hoping I can be more clear headed for my next blog.

For now this is Matty.D signing off.

P.S. 100 BLOGS!!!
