Ever since the onscreen COO Triple H came into effect things have been improving and changing. So I thought I would just go over the few things that I’ve noticed have changed and what else I want to see change.
Tag Teams
Something I think all of us have been after is a Tag division worth watching. Well over the past few weeks word has got out that the WWE do want to bring back a good tag division.
So what improvement and change have we already seen? Well like I said in a previous blog The Uso’s and the team of Otunga and Mcgillicutty have stepped up. Now to add to this list is newly crowned WWE Tag Champs, Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston and possibly R-Truth and The Miz.
So let’s have a look at each team:
These two have come a long way since their days on NXT and in the Nexus. They have developed very well as a tag team and they have that classic Tag Team style and chemistry, a big plus side is that they aren’t just 2 random people chucked together, due to their time together in the Nexus they have never been proper singles competitors, not since NXT and FCW that is. So with the Nexus now gone Otunga and McGillicutty have stuck together with the Tag Championships they won back when they were still under the ruling of CM Punk.
With no more Nexus they have picked up their own style, new music included. There in ring work improved together and they were like a couple of buddies here to kick butt. Now that they have lost the Championships I don’t know whether or not they will stick together or get phased out. My hope is they are kept in the mix because to be honest I think there great.
Jimmy and Jay Uso’s came onto WWE TV in 2010 after spending time in FCW. They are the sons of Rikishi and when they came to our screens they were accompanied by Tamina the daughter of Jimmy “SuperFly” Snuka.
They were a Heel team and first impressions were mixed, a lot of people thought they weren’t ready for the main stage. The Team did the odd matches here and there but soon phased out. Tamina though stayed around in the Divas division and for short time was the on screen girl friend to Santino Marella.
A few Months ago the Uso brothers started to appear more regally on our screens again, this time as a Face team, they had different music and a unique entrance that included a Haka. There in ring chemistry also improved and the crowd really gets behind them. I’m hoping to see more of them soon.
Long-time singles competitors turned tag team just 2 weeks ago.
Kofi Kingston joined the WWE in 2006 at first as a Jamaican wrestler but it later changed to his true nationality of West African. During his time so far he has already held the US Championship twice and the Intercontinental Championship three times, as well as being a former World Tag Team Champion with CM Punk.
Evan Bourne has been a mid-carder since he entered WWE in 2008. But as soon as he entered he was a fan favourite, his high flying and fast passed moves wowed the crowd, why he hadn’t had a push before now is quite shocking. One of his most notable great matches was against Chris Jericho at Fatal Four Way last year.
Just last week Kofi and Evan tagged together to take on Tag Champs at the time Otunga and McGillicutty, they won in great fashion and therefore earned a shot at the titles the next week. Last night was there chance and they won the Tag Titles in another great tag match.
Evan and Kofi have great in ring Chemistry as well as the use of tag team manoeuvres. This will be a team to watch, will they get their own entrance and style? Or keep them as separate entrances and style? Let’s watch over the next few weeks and find out. Either way it’s great to see these two with Gold epically Bourne as this is his first Title in WWE.
Miz and Truth are both no strangers to the Tag Team Division, Miz has held both World and WWE Tag titles with John Morrison as well as the Unified Tag Championships with Big Show.
Truth has also had his fair share of tag team matches but unfortunately has never won the Tag Titles but came close with John Morrison, in his TNA days though he did hold the NWA World Tag Team Championship once, and the TNA Tag Team Championship once.
Miz and Truth came out last night on Raw and made a great promo about conspiracy and played with the crowd brilliantly as a great Heel partnership, whether or not they will be using this alliance to get to Tag gold or singles gold isn’t clear but I think they could bring something interesting to the Tag storylines.
So that is a possibility of at least 4 great Tag teams. Let’s hope that storylines will bring the teams forward more and in some great matches.
Another Team that may come together, albeit a messy team, is Vickie Guerrero’s Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger as she may be “Expanding her roster”.
Divas
So the Divas division is having a slow improvement, Beth and Natalya has formed a team called “The Divas of Doom”, cheesy I know. At this present moment Beth and Nat will not tell us what they want from the divas division, I am just hoping its change.
Ever since we lost Trish Stratus, Lita and Mickie James the Divas have been nothing more than women prancing around looking pretty.
Beth and Nat can actually perform and wrestle, with them being the Heel Divas, any other diva that goes up against them will in one or another get some training. We are already seeing improvement from Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres and the Bella twins. Other Divas in line to be improved are NXT Divas Kaitlyn and A.J as well as Aksana but Aksana has still not had her in ring debut since appearing on SmackDown.
Storylines are becoming more centred instead of taking a back seat to the normal championship and rival storylines.
If they keep this improvement up they could possibly make a Divas Tag Title, as there is Diva teams already visible. Why make them all compete over a Singles title? A Divas tag title could bring in some interesting storylines as well fulfil the WWE’s need to have loads of Divas in the ring at once.
What we still need is longer matches with substance instead of short 4 to 6 minutes matches that see one Diva beat down the other with ease, if they can do all this by the time Kharma comes back after the birth of her baby we should see some interesting Divas competition.
Storyline Improvement and Changes.
Storylines as of recently have had major improvements, this came about when CM Punk took that microphone and blew us away on the lead up to Money in the Bank. Since then we have had more interesting, realistic and unpredictable storylines.
Among these storylines we have seen Triple H come forward again as COO, the return of Kevin Nash and even seeing Stephanie McMahon back stage in a mystery storyline on finding out who it is screwing with company, interesting stuff.
Improved Matches
In ring action has also had great improvement; SmackDowns World Title Storylines are great evidence of that with brilliant matches between Randy Orton and Christian. There match at SummerSlam blew my mind, it was like watching the Attitude Era all over again with less Blood.
Cena and Punk of course have been performing brilliantly, they have gone against each other three times since Money in the Bank and all of them matches were brilliant.
Also just last week we had a great falls count anywhere match between R-Truth and John Morrison.
As time goes on I hope we see even more improvement on the action we see on WWE.
Sum up
So there it is. WWE is working on improving and looking at a brighter future in the processes. Tag Teams improve, Divas start to actually perform and Storylines become very interesting with great Promos and matches to boot.
Questions for you.
So what Superstars would you like to see team up and join the Tag Division? Or is there any Wrestling teams outside of WWE that you would love to see come into the WWE?
Are there any other Divas you would like to see more of? And is there any Women Wrestlers you want to see in the WWE?
What do you think of the latest Storylines and matches?
I will leave you all to think on this.
Matty.D signing off.
