Well SmackDown! Wasn’t too great. I was tired when watching it though so that may have had effect on my opinion.
The main focus of the night was the match between Drew McIntyre and Teddy Long. Threw out the night we saw clips of Drew leading up to this point showing us the story of why this match is going to happen.
When we got to the match Teddy came dressed in a suit, straight away you knew he wasn’t going to be too physical. The following was Drew humiliating Teddy, instead of beating him up, he made Teddy get on his knees and apologize and say that Drew is the chosen one, then he was made to crawl to the middle of the ring and lay on his back so Drew could pin him. The whole segment didn’t do much for me and I felt uncomfortable watching it.
After the pin Teddy went to walk away but Drew grabbed him and was going to DDT him when Kofi came down to his aid, but he was stopped by Drew’s personal security, which he had waiting by the ring, Drew pounded on Kofi until Matt Hardy came threw the crowd and jumped Drew, but he was also grabbed and pounded on, Drew got them both in the ring and DDT’d them both to end the segment.
The other main storyline of the night was the Fatal 4 Way competitors and Kane. The night started off with CM Punk in the ring talking about Undertaker. He was insulting the dead man in an obvious attempt to provoke the big red monster.
During Punks rant about Undertaker the lights went out, when they rose the Undertaker was standing in the ring, or at least that’s what we was meant to believe, after some scared acting from Punk this man was reviled to be Luke Gallows, Punk puts on the hat and does the Taker bow then puts the hat on the floor and stomps it. It was then that Kane had seen enough and was heading down; he got attacked from behind before he even made it to the ring by Jack Swagger, and he was then beaten on by Punk, Jack, Gallows and the mystery man.
The S.E.S held Kane to the floor and Jack did three of his big body slams, after he had done those Rey, and Big Show came down to clear the ring. When we think all is ok Rey 619’s Kane followed by a choke slam from Show.
Big Show shouts at Kane before the end of the segment.
At the end of the night we had Rey and Show tag against Punk and Jack, a pretty good match but nothing special, ended in a pretty bad way as Jack got pinned after a simple move from Rey.
Once all over Kane came down to the ring and proceeded to lay every one out, he even gave Rey a Tombstone Pile Driver.
Kane then talks to them all about how Sunday will be a fatal night for the guilty party, and then bows to a coffin at the top if the ramp.
Personally I think they need to change this story up or start bringing it to close as its been similar events on every show. Kane accuses people about the Undertaker lays some people out and that’s it, the only difference this week is everyone else got a shot in first before the moment where Kane laid them all out. They need to pick it up and move to the next part of the story and do it fast before everyone gets bored of it.
Other matches included MVP teaming with Christian to take on there attackers over the last two weeks, Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins. The match was ok, I guess, but I did not like Vance’s finisher, it involved to much work from the opponent, its as if the opponent does the finisher to them self, you clearly see them move into it, which is a very bad aspect of a move.
We saw JTG go against Chavo, a good match I did enjoy, I’m pretty shocked at JTG still being around and not Shad. JTG is doing well as a solo competitor even with the Crym Tyme persona.
JTG won this match and won it well.
We then saw Layla vs. Kelly Kelly, not a great match, no where near as good as some more recent matches we have been seeing. Kelly Kelly grabbed the win.
The last match before the main event was Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero vs. Chris Masters.
I personally really like these two superstars and with the right storylines and backing they could easily be title contenders. Also Vickie is becoming a really good manger, she is someone us fans love to hate, and Dolph can use that to get into a title shot.
The match was a good one we saw the sleeper hold vs. the master lock.
Dolph won the match after the Zig Zag.
Like I said before, the show was just ok; nothing to special, I think they need to start moving the stories along a bit faster or it becomes repetitive fast.
Allow me to wrap this up with the current match card for Fatal 4 Way.
