Last nights Raw was a good one indeed, and has moved the storylines along and set us up for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match as we now know Raw’s 8 participants that were announced by Rob Zombie during the show, but I will get to that soon.
Let’s start off with the great promo at the begging of the show between Sheamus, Cena and Michael Cole who was receiving e-mails from the GM.
Sheamus came out first mainly to gloat about his win again and being the WWE champion, he even used Cena’s own quote “The Champ is here!”
He then moved from gloating to insulting Cena.
In the end Cena came to the ring.
Cena comes out to ask for “help” and talks about the NXT rookies now called the Nexus.
He then pointed out to Sheamus that they will most probably go after him next and also referred to him as the human jar of mayonnaise, and a giant block of cream cheese, the hole thing really made me chuckle.
He then says he wants to team with Sheamus to take on the Nexus and then calls the team out, it was then that the laptop, now perched on a pedestal for Michael Cole to stand at, dinged to notify us of an e-mail. Cole stood and went to the laptop and read the e-mail out.
The e-mail said that the Raw GM will wait till next week to take action on the Nexus giving Wade Barrett time to present his case to WWE officials.
He then moves on to say that if any member of the Nexus make contact with any WWE superstar that person would be terminated, and if any WWE superstar make contact with the Nexus that superstar would be suspended.
Cena continued on saying how the plan is ruined, but the night is not lost then moved into some jokes and lead into proposing a WWE championship match right at that moment.
“Ding” the laptop went off. Cole reads that Sheamus will be up against Mark Henry.
Cena then did some more comedy which was great, “Ding” another e-mail.
Cole reads about Money in the Bank, and that the participants will be reviled later on tonight.
The GM then said he would like to demonstrate. Sheamus then turns to leave when we hear the booming sounds of the Steel Cage music and the lights flashing and a cage is lowered into view.
Few more dings and Cole reads that Sheamus will defend the title at MITB, in a steel cage against John Cena.
A great opening promo to start the show excellent way to open the show getting the crowd pumped.
Now onto the Nexus, through out the night Superstars were asked by Josh Matthews what they thought of the group’s actions most saying they don’t agree with it, and the usual response you would expect.
When interviewing the Nexus, Skip Sheffield attacked a crew man working back stage; at that point Josh went quite.
We then had Jerry Lawler in the ring speaking about a new DVD coming out for Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. After the announcement Ricky came out to his fans, Jerry then called a load of other Hall of Famers to congratulate the Dragon, now it was pretty obvious that these guys were out here for something else, as they do not usually do this sort of thing for a DVD.
The Nexus came out, now with there own entrance music, and surrounded the ring. The Nexus worked like a group of Predators surrounding its prey.
They couldn’t get in the ring as each time one did he was beaten off by the legends, they in the end started picking off the Hall of Famers one by one by grabbing one by the legs, dragging him out, and beating him down out side before doing it again until there was only three left.
It was then that the Nexus was able to make a full strike jumping to the ring beating down the rest of the legends. They then focused on Ricky in the ring, Skip did his clothesline and Justin did his 450 splash, then leaving the Hall of Famer in the ring.
Now you might be thinking “how did these guys get away with it?” well it’s because the Hall of Famers are not current WWE superstars so the Nexus team can not be terminated for there actions and of cause could not be stopped either.
Also if you watched the show you may have noticed that the leader of the Nexus Wade Barrett was not with them, reason being is he is over here in England as his work visa has run out so until he can get that renewed he is over here in jolly old England, also the storyline with Drew McIntyre has some truth as his work visa has also ended, people suspected he would stay in the states using a green card as he is married to WWE Diva, Tiffany, but that may not be so as Tiffany posted on twitter that she is missing someone very special.
Well back to the show, the other main focus was the Money in the Bank, during the night Rob Zombie had a small segment to pop his CD and to announce the superstars entering the MITBLM.
Those superstars being:
Randy Orton
The Miz
R-Truth
Chris Jericho
Evan Bourn
Ted DiBiase
John Morrison
Edge
After he announced Edge, Edge appeared on the screen, they had some words shared and Edge played a video to show what he did back in 2005/06 when he won the money in the bank at Wrestlemania 21 and cashed it in on a broken Cena at New Years Revolution.
It was after we saw that, the GM e-mailed us and made an 8 man tag match.
At the end of the night we had Edge, Chris Jericho, Miz and Ted vs. R-Truth, John Morrison, Evan Bourn and Randy Orton. And it was one hell of a match showing why each one of those superstars is in the MITBLM.
The match ended almost the moment Randy came in the ring as he RKO’d Ted and won the match. It was then that all the superstars brawled with the ladders getting us in the mood for the up coming event, it was Randy who stood tall and was able to climb the ladder and unhooked the suit case that was hanging above the ring, he posed on the ladder with the case and the show closed.
Other things we saw during the night is the Hart Dynasty get beaten on by the Uso’s instead of the match that they was scheduled to have.
Sheamus beat Mark Henry in a lacklustre contest.
And Divas tagged together in a short reasonable match, Alicia Fox and Maryse defeating Eve and Gail Kim.
On other news The Undertaker and Michelle McCool have apparently gotten married recently in a small ceremony with close friends and family. So congratulations to them.
One last thing a shout out to Tommy Clee, my number one reader, he is going through a kidney transplant this week so lets all wish him well and I hope to see him back on his feet very soon.
Matty.D signing off.
